Panic room
Conventions Panic room sticks to some typical conventions of a thriller               The dramatic music played during the opening titles.              The females being the victims in the film              the male is the villan in the  Panic room also goes against the typical conventions of a thriller also              The location that the film takes place in is a city which goes against the typical convention of an isolated location              There is no specific  weapon used in  the film e.g. knife, gun
Opening titles Columbia pictures  are the production company for panic room the have made many thrillers such as the grudge , The grudge 2.  The first shot is an establishing shot from this shot we know that this film is set in a city somewhere.
Opening titles  The credits / names of actors and actresses  are placed amongst the building and scenery to look like they are part of the city   The name comes in to view using a panning shot . The font that is used is made to look very solid and strong which like other films is used to relate to the story other film use this e.g. font is written in blood or something . This font is deliberately done because is relate to the panic room in the film
Psycho
Conventions The conventions that psycho created were              The woman as the victim               The isolated location               Bad weather (pathetic fallacy)               knife as the murder weapon                   unexpected twist at the end Does not go against any conventions because Psycho created all of the conventions
Opening titles Music : The music start straight after the production company is shown. The music sounds scary and….. The titles enter in from the side really fast. The word start to move as if the two halves of the words are fighting with each other with relates to the movie as the character has a split personality this happens with all the names. Lines also appear from the right and the left of the screen and split the name (also looks like it is chasing the name /titles)
The number 23
Opening titles The number 23 use the production company newline cinema they have a wide range of thrillers such as the butterfly effect The font looks typed: (might represent the book that is in the film) the pages are blank at the start then start to get crowed with words/numbers (the number 23) shows the gradual build up of the obsession with   The number 23 There are also little facts about dates that link to the 23 to make the view feel the obsession with the number
Opening titles The music starts off slow and unnoticed able but as the camera shots speed up the music becomes louder and also become faster.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning Opening  T.T.C.M.T.B Follows the typical conventions of a slasher.            isolated area somewhere in Texas.             adolesant victims              male murderer                same murder weapon
There is no dialogue in the opening but the audience still gain information.  The use of extreme close ups on documents and pictures
