2. Introduction
• A technology executive with varied interests, Jeffery
Scott Fraser spends much of his time in Alaska, where he
works on operating his new venture, the Tsaina Lodge.
Away from work, Jeffery Fraser likes to snowboard on
nearby slopes.
Located just outside of Tsaina Lodge is Thompson Pass,
a terrain that receives an abundance of snowfall each
year. In 1953, the mountain received 974 inches of snow,
which remains the record in the United States. Because
of this, skiers and snowboarders flock to Valdez to
engage in winter sports.
3. Thompson Pass
• Those interested in a more exciting experience atop
Thompson Pass can enjoy heli-skiing and
snowboarding. Available as of two decades ago, the
combination of aviation and free-skiing or
snowboarding is available on-site at the lodge.
Winter sports enthusiasts can tackle Thompson Pass
runs as long as 6,200 feet.
For the most amount of snow, visiting during
February and March is recommended. April and
May offer longer days and corn snow, which means
riders should properly wax their equipment to keep
the water moving fluidly underneath their boards.
