For this project, we have researched the key differences between the working environments of Canadian and Jamaican organizations. We have analysed topics such as cultural differences, motivating staff, training, recruitment & selection, and efficiency. We collected this information through secondary research, and primary research through observation and interviews conducted at a small eco-resort and a Homeless/Rehab Shelter while in Jamaica on the iLead Jamaica Expedition 2014. We will compare and contrast business practices at these two operations to the business practices and culture we are familiar with in Canada. We will use comparative measures such as the Hofstede Cultural Dimensions Theory and Trompenaars’ Seven Dimensions to help illustrate how culture can create such different business environments.
