AMD FX World Record Winner with 8.249Ghz
AMD FX is AMD's latest processor with 8 cores. There's not much info about it as it has not been
released to the public so I can't really give much comment about it. However, overclockers did managed
to get some of the chips(damn, hoped that I'm one of them) and they had managed to overclock the AMD
FX to 8.429 Ghz, beating the previous Guinness World of Record of 8.308Ghz.
Summary
Venue: Austin, Texas, United States
Time: 31st August 2011
Event/Happenings:
1. AMD FX overclocked - 8.429 Ghz
2. Beating previous World Record - 8.308Ghz
3. Cooling Agent used - Nitrogen, Liquid Helium.
4. No stressing done, only focused on clock speed.
AMD FX - 8.429Ghz?
Seriously, this is freaking awesome. 8.249Ghz for a desktop processor, not a server based processor. If its
a server based processor, I wouldn't be that amused but this is a desktop processor and its running at a
server based processor speed(well, maybe not, as a server has a lot of server based processor jumbled up
so its still faster than a desktop in a great manner, but hey, this is a good development for the desktop
side. ). If I had a processor with such clock speed, I will be really happy(well, maybe I won't be 10 - 20
years later) as I can do a lot of things in a swift mode. Swift swift, not "swift swift until you sweat".
Running processes such as virtualization, video processing, graphic editing would be much faster as the
processor's clock speed is fast.

Here's a scene of the overclocking of the AMD FX(which is still not available at the market yet).
This event happened at AMD's Headquarters at Austin, Texas, United States on 31st August 2011. It is
on collaboration with a pre-launch briefing of AMD FX at the AMD Headquarters. Too bad that I can't
witness it myself as its simply too far to reach from where I stay(well, I can reach there but the problem is
$$ and it always is).
As you can see from the picture, you may think that those are smoke or steam but it is actually not. Its
actually a fog emitted due to the usage of extreme cooling agent - Liquid Helium.
Overclocking Best Cooling Agent - Liquid Helium
Liquid Helium is the best cooling agent ever(if I am not mistaken, why didn't I studied more science
during my school time) as you can see from the video below, the temperature drops to -200++ when
liquid helium is used. -200++(exact amount on below, don't want to spoil too much) degree celcius is
something very very very cool, cooler than North pole + South Pole(but both of them are kinda hot
nowadays). You'll become a frozen Statue of Liberty if you put your whole body there for a few minutes.
Anyway, its freaking cool, that's it.
Overclocking Process
This time, Expert Overclockers Brian Mchlachlan and Sami Maekinen had decided not to go for the
benchmarks but they went for the processor clock speed instead.
Test Drive #1 - Nitrogen
I am not sure whether its liquid nitro gen or what(should be liquid nitrogen), and the temperature of the
computer is -184.3 degree celcius. They managed to get 8Ghz(exact amount not mentioned) of clock
speed at that point.
Test Drive #2 - Liquid Helium
The temperature of the computer further drops to -225.4 degree celcius while the clock speed is the
whooping 8.429Ghz. Seriously Amazing.

Overclocking Video
A picture can describe a thousand of words. A video which contains a series of pictures should be able to
describe more right?
Well, watch this.

My Opinion
This 8.429Ghz clock speed is indeed good but its not really achievable for a home usage as where can I
get a liquid nitrogen or liquid helium from? Even if I can get it, another problem would be the $$
problem. That's my problem actually but I think that AMD should do some stressing to ensure that it will
run smoothly and will not crash on the run. If its stable after a few hours of stressing, then I would say
this processor is really something.
