Dr. Koonibearry mentioned the reason why it will get worse before it will get better is because he explains how data was never designed to be a secured network. Now, that our world of businesses and transactions (that deals with sensitive information all over the internet) relies so much on the internet. Since we, in many parts of the world rely on the internet in exchange for information I think Dr. Koonibeary is sensing since our technology has been progressively growing as well as those who are able to cut through security (such as hackers) from information systems is also still finding innovations on ways to help make systems more protective in the security realm. It is almost like, since security has been an issue when it comes down to sensitive information but yet so are the ideas to create a more protective way to announce your identity. Voice recognition is a good source of identity; we all have different sound and tones in our voices. So yes, it seems as though the reason why it gets worse is because all the kinks are still being configured in order to find out the best ways to be able to transfer data securely and to be able to keep up with the hackers’ next scheming move. Our Instructor Guidance highlights security breach predictions provided by the Experian data breach. Are these predictions in agreement with Dr. Koonjbearry’s position? In Dr. Koonibearry’s view he suggests in order to dodge such breaches that the CIA Triad must be applied. I am not sure if Experian, a business I thought as one of the most trustworthy companies would even think about selling information off to another country or why they would want to sell personal information about people to fraudulent people. McCarthy shared, “The worst data breach in U.S. history happened when Experian -owned Court Ventures sold information directly to a Vietnamese fraudster service” (McCarthy, 2014). I am just still confused why Experian would do such a bad and shallow business move to their customers. I think the predictions Dr. Koonibearry are positive and I agree that companies need to be more shielding to be able to handle congenital information from people’s personal data. After doing research I found out how Experian was caught off guard by someone disguised as a private investigator and Experian fell for it. According to that research, “the proprietors of Superget.info had gained access to Experian’s databases by posing as a U.S.-based private investigator” (Krebs, 2014). Experian made it far too easy for this Imposter to take information. I know after this breach happened, many people feel not likely to trust Experian with such personal data even if Experian is claiming they now only offer via device intelligence as verification. Paper #1 Reasonable Expectation of Privacy In this discussion, we are asked about the reasonable expectation of privacy on government-owned equipment that has been issued to us. In my opinion, the government is actually in the right to search without a warrant the computer records and history of government employees. The Fourth Amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures from both civil and criminal authorities (Lynch, 2006). I would argue that since the government owns the issued equipment then the government has every right to search that equipment. The Fourth Amendment protects an American citizen’s property from seizure and the privacy of that American citizen, but this equipment is not privately owned. Also, when an American citizen becomes a federal employee then the citizen should be held to the standards of the government. The government employee could also have access to sensitive material, in which that material if leaked, could cause serious and detrimental harm to the interests of the United States. In cases that involve an employee having access to sensitive material, then the federal government has every right to access the computer records of this person. Also, a phone issued out by the federal government should only be used for the government, and not for private use. I have a government computer issued to me. That computer is used for government business and was paid for by the government. In my opinion, the federal employee should not have a reasonable expectation of privacy on equipment that is issued by the federal government. The United States Supreme Court is still in the process of evaluating how the protections garnered from the Fourth Amendment fits into this digital age (Ferguson, 2020). In saying this, future court cases that take place in the digital age can eventually change the Supreme Court’s stance on privacy protections. References Ferguson, A. G. (2020). The question is whether 4th amendment rights are violated when using informants because of their background and credibility. A search within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment has never been explicitly defined by the Supreme Court of the United States (Hadlow, 2017). Because of this most of those warrants called into question are ruled on in state court. In State v. Simpson, the Tennessee Supreme Court set an unprecedented low threshold, making it likely that almost any informant tip, even a phantom tip, will establish an officer's cause to stop and possibly search an individual (Dunn, 1999). Informant tips need to be thoroughly scrutinized before acted upon to endure they will stand up in a court of law. 1 Corinthians 1:20 asks us " Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?'
