Birthstone are basically gemstones that are
worn by people in order to enhance there
physical and mental abilities, health, wealth
and healing power of the body. Birthstone are
assigned to a person according to his month of
birth. Each month has been assigned a specific
birthstone by (American) National Association
of Jewelers in 1912.

the West birthstones are assorted on
the basis of the Gregorian Calendar
months whereas in Indian Vedic
assortment is done on the basis of
Zodiac signs.
