BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Colonel Terry Fobbs was born December 4, 1952 in River Rouge Michigan. He graduated
from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1975 with a BS degree in Zoology and a
commission as a US Army Second Lieutenant. In 1982, he earned a MBA degree from the
University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. In 2001, he earned a Masters of
Strategic Studies degree from the US Army War College. In 2010, he earned a PhD in
Organization and Management with a specialization in Leadership from Capella
University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He has served in a wide variety of command and staff assignments around the world
including wartime service during Operation Desert Storm. His military assignments
include Commander, 406th Corps Support Battalion, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Operations
Officer, 8803rd Headquarters Brigade, Southfield, Michigan, Chief of Staff, 300th Military
Police Command, Inkster, Michigan, Commander, 645th Area Support Group, Southfield,
Michigan and returned in October 2004 from serving in Operation Joint Guardian in
Kosovo where he commanded Area Support Group Falcon, in support of NATO peace
enforcement operations, the Global War or Terror and support of US Forces in Kosovo,
Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Greece. His
military education includes the US Army Command and General Staff College, the
Logistics Executive Development Course and the US Army War College. His military
decorations include, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with
three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army
Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with Star, the
Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Campaign Stars, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global
War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Liberation of
Kuwait Medals from the Governments of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the Presidential Unit

Citation, the Superior Unit Award and the Parachutist Badge.
In his civilian occupation, Colonel Fobbs is the Assistant to the Michigan State Fire
Marshal and a contract consultant for Gailforce Human Resource Solutions, Nelson,
British Columbia. In 2005, he retired from the Active Reserves after 30 years of combined
active and reserve service.
He is the Commander American Legion Post 148, Brown/Cavender Post, Mason , Michigan
and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Reserve Officers
Association where he has served as a member of the National Governing Board, the Senior
Army Reserve Commander’s Association, Association of the United States Army, the
Capitol Area Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, the Michigan
Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an Advisory Board member
for the Michigan Veterans’ Business Resource Center, a member of the Academy of
Management where he serves on the committees on Organizational Development and
Entrepreneurship and a local ecclesiastical lay leader for the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints.
Colonel Fobbs serves as a citizen reporter for the Washington Times on military and
veterans issues, serves as a guest lecturer on leadership and ethics at Central Michigan
University, speaks to and facilitates various groups at the local, regional and national level
on national security, leadership, motivational and community issues as well as serves as a
media commentator. Colonel Fobbs is a Knight Commandeur in the Sovereign Military
Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (Knights Templar). He and his wife LeAnn make their
home in Mason, Michigan.
