6. Author’s Introduction
Are you often experiencing frustrations or difficulty focusing? Or are you someone
who is always absent-minded? Do want to seek inner peace and calmness of mind but
do not know how to get started? To answer all these questions, you need meditation
in your life.
The goal of meditation is to focus and quiet your mind, eventually reaching a higher
level of awareness and inner calm. Just about everyone can relate to that pesky
mental chatter that consumes our brains on a daily basis, there were times when I find
my mind literally going a mile a minute about most useless things. None of the
thoughts are productive, insightful, or even remotely helpful. In fact, this idle chatter
of the mind can help increase anxiety and suffering, which is quite frustrating and
annoying. The more active my mental chatter is, the more I find myself on the verge of
stress. Calming the mind can never be an easy task. Years before I was like, “My
thoughts are driving me mad! My mind will not be quiet!” Sounds familiar right? Your
body cannot relax unless you calm your mind.

7. Chapter One: Mindfulness and
Meditation
Mindfulness is originally a part of the Buddhist meditation, but this practice has
become popular in the American mainstream in 1979 because of its amazing health
benefits. Thousands of studies have recorded the many physical and mental health
benefits of mindfulness in general. Since then, countless of mindfulness programs
have been offered to schools, hospitals, veteran centers, and even prisons.
Mindfulness does not conflict with any beliefs or tradition, religious, cultural, or
scientific.

8. Chapter Two: Women in Meditation
A 2010 survey of the American Psychological Association reported that the stress
levels among women have been rising steadily for the past five years, surpassing
men’s. According to the survey, fifty percent of the women surveyed claimed that they
lose sleep at night because of stress. Additionally, fatigue impacted negatively on their
willpower to exercise and choose better eating habits. Stress and fatigue can cloud our
mind and block our ability to access our finer feelings and to make right decisions.
Other surveys have discovered that women are nearly as twice to suffer depression
and anxiety than men.

9. Chapter Three: Practicing Mindfulness
through Meditation
Practicing mindfulness allows us to be fully present in our life and work and improve
our quality of life by stepping away from the habitual, often unconscious emotional
and physiological reactions to everyday events.
Before you begin any meditation, you must carefully choose the best place. Carefully
selecting a place for meditation is an important factor. The most crucial requirement
for an ideal environment is that it should be quiet, peaceful, and away from
distractions. It also needs to be neither too dark, nor too bright, and neither too hot
nor too cold. If you are a beginner, it should be important to avoid places that cause
undesirable feelings. You can also use a quiet place at your home or at a friend’s, as
long as it is comfortable and relaxing.

10. Chapter Four: Mindfulness: Achieving
Goals and Happiness
Cultivating mindfulness is essential to achieving your goals and living a life full of
happiness. Increasing your capacity for mindfulness supports many attitudes that
contribute to a happy life. By practicing mindfulness, we are less likely to get caught
up in the worries of the future. This attitude will help us achieve whatever goals we
want in life.

11. Conclusion
Now that we have reached the last part of the book, we can come to a conclusion that
meditation is a doorway into the unknown. It can help us get a sense of mystery of who we are.
You may read two of my other books and learn more about meditation and happiness combined,
or you may want to focus on understanding the power of the present and learn how meditation
can prove its way to ultimate happiness.
However, you do not really need to be a master in learning meditation; all you need is to be
mindful and focused, and disciplined. Just always remember that you do not need to beat
yourself up about your wild mind. With discipline and practice, you will learn to work kindly with
the barrage of thoughts and you will find some clarity and peacefulness. I hope this book can
greatly help your journey in meditation.
