2. 2. History
According to ancient Egyptians an eye without eye make up was vulnerable to the Evil Eye. The first Egyptian eye make up is from a galena rock. Galena has disinfectant and offers protection from harmful rays of the sun. The make up was applied around the eye, in an almond or feline type of shape. The wearing of eye make up was a necessity, or must have. Both the rich and poor people wore the eye make up. The only difference was that the poor people applied their eye make up with sticks instead of brushes, like the rich people. Eye make up was also used for spiritual and medicinal reasons.
