That’s why it isn’t advisable to do self therapy because not only will it potentially not do anything for your pain and injury but it can also make things worse which can result in more injury that may not be cured anymore.

1. There Are Good Physical Therapists Out There
When you’re suffering from physical body pain due to an illness or an injury the last
thing you need is to make things worse than they already are. That’s why it isn’t
advisable to do self therapy because not only will it potentially not do anything for your
pain and injury but it can also make things worse which can result in more injury that
may not be cured anymore.
Your best bet is to visit a physical therapist. That’s their job – to take care of your pain
and see to it that you are able to get back your body’s range of movement without you
feeling any pain or discomfort. Basically, they are there to get you back to your old form
before the injury or before the pain.
Physical therapists do this by combining exercises, massages and caring in order to get
your body in shape so to speak. That being said there are therapists and then there are
good therapists. What I mean by that is just because they have a license and are able
to practice physical therapy doesn’t mean they are good for you.
This is true of all things such as a doctor or a dentist. Just because they have a degree
and a license doesn’t mean they are all good. A good physical therapist can help you; a
bad one can just prolong your agony. You want to get one that is a right fit for you.
What makes a right fit? Well that will depend on you and your personality. There are just
some people that will clash with you and you will get a feel for them. You can see it in
their actions around you and what you will call a gut feeling. Sure, this is an unscientific
way of choosing but in many cases the gut feeling is right. When it comes to working
with a therapist you want one that you can actually feel comfortable working with.
Comfort aside it takes a lot more than just being able to comfortably work with
someone. That someone also needs to be able to do the job and do it well. A good
therapist is one that will take the time to actually evaluate every facet of your physical
body along with your medical history.
Basically, he or she should first see what needs to be worked on before actually
jumping right into therapy. That includes knowing where the restrictions are and where
the pain is when certain movements are made, especially with exercises.
Speaking of pain, while there is a saying that goes ‘no pain no gain’ when it comes to
physical therapy pain does not always mean gain. If there is pain, a lot more than usual
for example, then it means something is wrong and the movement, whatever it may be,
should be stopped or modified. A good therapist will work with the pain in order to work
around it.
That is to say, a good therapist will not feed you crap like work through the pain. When
there is pain it’s a signal from your body that you should stop what you’re doing and try
