ABM HEALTHCARE INC 2011 – 2014
Director of Facilities for Mount Carmel East 2011 – 2014
A family of not-for-profit, faith-based hospitals and healthcare organizations serving patients in
central Ohio. Manage Facilities departments with staff of 22 FTE’s for medical center campus that
includes 550-bed hospital, 1 medical office buildings, 6 hospital buildings, 2 parking garages and 8
flat lots with a total of 1 million square feet.
· Managed operating budget of $8.5M and deployed $1M in capital upgrades.
· Developed RFP for the procurement of 64 electric accounts for a net savings of $2.3M over 24
months
· Successfully completed JCAHO and ODH inspections at hospital with no recommendations.
· Reduced operating budget by $1.1M
· Installed new boiler plant with 8 new boiler with fuel oil back up
· Developed 5 year capital budget plan
OHIO HEALTH CORPORATION, Columbus, OH 1983 – 2010
System Director of Energy Management and Operations 2008 – 2010
Deploy energy efficiency and sustainability programs. Develop, implement and maintain aggressive
energy management plan to include budgeting, tracking of cost and usage, purchasing of utilities,
operating manuals for equipment, specification for new equipment, tracking of sustainability, bench
marking and request for proposals for projects.
· Developed RFP for the procurement of 150 electric accounts for a net savings of $3.9M over 36
months.
· Performed $1.2M in energy management projects over the last two years that save $700K
annually.
· Designed retro-commissioning processes for facilities department that saved $250K in one year.
· Achieved savings of $90K annually by working with AEP to lower tariff rates on 7 accounts.
System Director Property Management and Engineering 2005 – 2008
Maintenance and property management responsibility for 5 hospital campuses, 40 off site buildings
and 3 surgery centers totaling over 6.1 million square feet. Manage $36M operating budget and
$7M capital budget.
· Created corporate facilities department by combining 5 hospital facilities departments, allowing
for a reduction of 6 line staff and 2 management positions.
· Standardized building equipment and materials resulting in savings of $150K.
· Assembled in-house property management department using facilities staff; enabled cancellation
of outsourced services resulting in savings of $250K.
· Deployed new department policies and procedures.
· Implemented new maintenance work order system on 5 campuses and in Property Management
department, saving $110K in license fees.
· Initiated zone maintenance program on hospital campus resulting in an increase of customer
satisfaction score by 10%.
· Successfully passed JCAHO inspections at all hospitals and 3 surgery centers with no
recommendations.
Director of Plant Operations, Grant Medical Center 1983 – 2005
Manage Maintenance, Construction, and Clinical Engineering departments with staff of 49 FTE’s for
medical center campus that includes 650-bed hospital, 4 medical office buildings, 2 hospital
buildings, 2 bridges, 3 parking garages and 6 flat lots, 1 surgery center and 7 off campus buildings.
Total of 1.7 million square feet.
· Managed operating budget of $5.5M and deployed $1.5M in capital upgrades.
· Completed over $300M in renovations and new construction on time and on budget.
· Completed numerous difficult projects including implosion of 16-story attached medical office
building, reducing project time frame by 6 months and saving $300K.
· Constructed 140,000 square foot surgery and heart center on time and under budget by $5M.

· Converted coal fired boiler plant to gas fired plant with fuel oil back up enabling staff reduction of
