Accessibilité
Accessibility is a fundamental self-movement, information understanding and safety
right for persons with a disability or special needs.
It requires the implementation of additional features in the development of roads and
public buildings (ERP), (Circular 2007-53 DGUHC 30 November 2007).
The communities, by following this approach, are also improving the quality of life of
all its members.
3M Bricolage et Bâtiment, by its commitment to accessibility, strives to develop
solutions in accordance with the right to social equality.
The AFNOR NFP 98-351 defines a type of warning tape, its implementation is required
along railway platforms and curb ramps facing street crossings for pedestrians. If the
decision to equip the top of a staircase with a warning tape is made by a client, it is
important that the implementation conforms to the standard.

IN CASE OF warning TACTiLE slabs, FOLLOWING STANDARDs APPLy :
On top of the staircase, floor covering should enable vigilance awakening at a distance of
0,50 m from the first step thanks to a visual and tactile contrast.
Relief of the awakening vigilance system chosen must not generate a risk of falling.
in the case of rails, following standards apply :
For BPA : the stairs, whatever its design, must have a handrail on each side.
Every handrail shall meet the following requirements :
- Be located at a height between 0,80 m and 1,00 m. However when a guardrail takes place as a handrail,
the handrail should be located, for safety reasons at the minimum height required for the guardrail.
- Be placed at a distance of one step before the first step and one step after the last step, without causing any
problems in the traffic floor.
- Be differentiated from the wall bracket with special lighting or visual contrast.
- Be continous, rigid, and with an easy grip.
in the case of nosings, following standards apply:
Nosings shall meet the following requirements :
- Contrasting color with the rest of the stairs color : it is advisable to play on contrasts of colors or tones, or on
appropriate lighting effects. Visibility of the first step in the downhill direction is particularly important.
- Be non-slip. Should be banned all polished materials without surface treatment non-slip insert
(including concrete, stone, metal and polished glass).
- The step should not go beyond 10 mm of the raiser,
to avoid any foot grip risk.
IN case of signalisation strips, following standards apply :
The first and last steps must be equipped with a riser of a minimum height of 10 cm.
The colour of the riser must visually contrast with the step.
Step height must be less or equal to 16 cm.

ready for installation. The high performance BUTYL base adhesive is formulated,

pre heat the support.

DINAC’s entrance mats range not only provides an efficient dirt barrier, but reduces
contamination of carpet, tiles and other inner floor finishes. This means less frequent
«in depth» cleaning is required, which, in turn, reduces cleaning and maintenance
costs.
Entrance mats should be installed in internal and external passing through areas
where dirt and moisture is carried in by foot and wheeled traffic. They should cover
whole areas width in order to avoid passing by and a minimum length corresponding to
the 4 steps which are necessary for a comprehensive shoe sole cleaning.
They have been specially designed to retain dirt and prevent it to spread into buildings
where the public is admitted with a high traffic such as airports, hotels, hospitals,
offices, malls, ...

Why using an entrance mat ?
6 Infills types to suit your requirements
80% of dirt in building is provided by pedestrian traffic. A traffic of 1500 people per day deteriorates approximately 42% of floor
finishes. 95% of life, hygiene and aesthetics problems of the floorings are due to dirt and traffic intensity.
An entrance mat is a dirt barrier. They should cover the entire width of entrance, not to be avoided or circumvented and be long
enough for satisfactory soles cleaning. Entrance mats allow significant savings in maintenance and floorings wear. Entrance matting
systems prevents dirts and wear during all building life.
Entrance mats should be installed indoor and outdoor walkways.

This aluminium structure entrance mat ARAVIS SLIM, consisting of rails with scrapping and/or drying inserts,
creates a cleanliness barrier in order to prevent dirts and wear. It extends the floorings lifetime subject to
intense traffic (commercial traffic).
Easy to maintain, thanks to its lightness and its handling.
It is to set in flush mounting without mat well or in surface mounting with a ramp. Thanks to its low
thickness, it is in accordance with disabled people accessibility standards.

Regular care and cleaning are necessary to prolong the longevity and cleaning properties of the mat.
The cleaning program depends on the quantity and nature of dirt, traffic intensity and environment :
- Light soiling : vaccum cleaner or brush
- Medium to heavy soiling : add broom to vaccum cleaner. High pressure water sprayer can also be used.

1 - MEASURING UP
You might face different situations when measuring up :
a. There is already a matwell :
Measure the inside of the matwell while checking the perfect evenness of
the wellground. When manufacturing the mat, a 3 mm clearance will have
to be removed on each side in relation to the frame (ie 6 mm total). Check
that the well edges are not subject to a buckling effect.
Specify : inside well dimensions.
b. Real mat dimensions :
In the case of the building is still on plan or to replace an already existing
mat. Specify the exact dimensions of the mat. The mat will be manufactu-
red according to the given dimensions.
Specify : real mat dimensions.
Important : be very meticulous when digging out the well and fitting the
frame.
Specify :
- the lengths of the alu rails L1 and L2 in mm or the diameter (in the case of
a circle)
- the depths P1 and P2 in mm
- the diagonals D1 and D2 in mm
- the direction of the traffic
2- TAKING DOWN A TEMPLATE
The template must be taken down on a rigid support such as PVC floor
covering, linoleum or a needled carpet.
Do not use corrugated board or kraft paper as their poor resistance might
lead to mistakes.
The templates will be kept 6 months after manufacturing of the mat.
You must mention on the templates the following data :
- the customer’s name
- the date
- the specification « top view »
- the orientation of the rails with the reference side,
- the direction of the traffic
The template will have to be cut neatly and without deformation.

LAY OUT
The length of the rails should not exceed
4,00 m (Aravis type JF and Aravis type CA
14) or 3,00 m (Aravis type CA 17, 21 and 26,
Aravis Slim, Cleanluxe and Oisans).
The mats are manufactured according to the
opposite plans.
The length of the central part is adapted to
the width of the doors.
If your data are different, provide us with a
layout plan.
MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF THE PACKAGE
If mechanical handling is possible (pallet
truck, power lift truck) maxi weight per
package = 200 kg to limit the number of
packages.
If mechanical handling is not possible, maxi
80 kg per package (manual handling by two
people).
RESERVATIONS
DINAC cannot be held responsible should
the customer not respect good engineering
practices nor verify in advance the fitting
condition products.
3- LAY out
a. Advised by DINAC
If mat length exceeds 4m (Aravis type JFand Aravis type CA 14) ou 3,00 m
(Aravis type CA 17, 21 and 26, Aravis Slim, Cleanluxe et Oisans), it will be
manufactured according to opposite sketch. Otherwise a manufacturing
drawing should be supplied.

INTERLINKING ARAVIS SECTIONS
When mat size exceeds 1500 mm in wal-
king direction or when several sections are
supplied, we advise to use connection plates
which will interlink rail sections and secure
mat in the well bottom.
In case of mat more than 1500 mm in sense
of walking : screw down the connection
plates in the floor each 4 angles of the mat.
Connection plates ref. 09 58 10 (Aravis CA
17, 21 and 26) or 09 58 11 (Aravis JF + Ara-
vis CA 14) galvanized steel, thickness 8/10
mm, dimensions 817 mm x 100 mm.
Fitting : nail screws (ref. 39 45 00) or to be
glued down.
Important : the choice of the module depends
on the weight of the mat.
SPECIAL CUTTING
Cutting of any shape is possible.
A template on a rigid material, or a precise
drawing with every side and diagonal dimen-
sions is required.
Remark : if L1 is ± 2 mm different from L2,
or if P1 is ± 6 mm different from P2, a special
cutting will have to be done in our workshop

Stair nosing profiles protect stairs, embellish steps and secure walking way. They
contribute to environment protection, to users safety and to well finished interior design.
EXTRACT OF THE WARRANTY CONTRACT « ISBA ANTISLIP STRIPS »
Stair nosings with ISBA antislip strip glued in our factory have a warranty on the ISBA
strip in case of normal wear in normal conditions of fitting and use, for 5 years.
In this case, 3M Bricolage et Bâtiment commits itself to provide the same product, or
similar one, free, except cost of fitting and transport charges.
This warranty is only for normal wear of the ISBA strip.
Are excluded from the warranty : deterioration or distortion of the alu/brass profile,
change in aspect of the strip or of the profile.

Our anti slip inserts undergoe sliding tests.
Glide is measured through gliding resistance tests on slopes according to standard
DIN 51130.
The highest coefficient corresponds to best anti slip properties. Coefficients range from
R9 to R13
Selection of anti slip insert should be done according to environment and local
conditions.

All curves are carried out in the factory according to a site made template and a
technical data sheet. In order to make sure that bent profile will fit exactly, very precise
information has to be provided. A bending data sheet which will help you to carry out
the cutting of the template is at your disposal on request (see p 89).

Indoor staircase - Warning equipment
• Stairs must be non-slip.
• On top of the staircase, floor covering should be enable vigilance catching at a distance of 0,50 m from the
first step thanks to a visual and tactile contrast.
• The first and last stair steps must be easy to identify in the descent as on the ascent.
• The staircase must be correctly enlightened.
• A handrail has to allow to be held or to catch in case of fall.
• Stair nosing must be antislip and shall draw attention of users (captivating colours).The overhang of the
step must not be more than 10 mm in order to avoid any risk of foot catching with the rise. Avoid bullnose step
type.
• It is better to make a colour difference between the first and the last step to awaken vigilance.
• Step height must be less than or equal to 16 cm.
