  4. 4. Irish Symbols <ul><li>The shamrock is a symbol for good luck! </li></ul><ul><li>Saint Patrick used the 3 leaves to explain the Holy Trinity </li></ul><ul><li>Ireland known as “Emerald Isle”, contains 40 shades of green! </li></ul>
  5. 5. Leprechauns! <ul><li>Shoemakers for fairies from Ireland that stand about 2 feet tall! </li></ul><ul><li>If you catch one, make him tell you where he has hidden his gold. </li></ul><ul><li>The legend is: pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>It’s a stone set in the castle tower in the village of Blarney </li></ul><ul><li>If you reach the stone, and KISS it, you will have “the gift of gab” </li></ul><ul><li>Lie on your back and bend backward to kiss the stone! </li></ul>The Blarney Stone Hello lads and lassies. Saint Patrick’s Day in the US <ul><li>Saint Patty’s is also an important day in the US, celebrated since 1737 (the first parade). </li></ul><ul><li>Today, the biggest parade is on 5th Avenue, New York City! </li></ul><ul><li>Customs include: eating corned beef and cabbage, green beer, wearing shamrock pins, and celebrating all things Irish. </li></ul><ul><li>In Chicago, the river is dyed green! </li></ul>
