MARKET WRAP
Indian markets edged higher. Nifty, Sensex up by 1.97 % & 2.03%.
Wall Stret traded up. US Unemployment Claims 348K in last week.
Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed. German Prelim CPI 0.5% (m/m).
Indian markets edged higher in the week. Asian markets closed mixed. Euro Zone
annual inflation stable at 0.8% in February. German consumer prices increased by 0.5%
on January 2014. US markets ended higher. US new home sales unexpectedly climbed
9.6 percent to a 468,000 in January, the highest level in more than five years. US Gross
domestic product grew at a 2.4 percent and durable goods orders down 1%. Nifty is
expected to be range bound and will move within the spread of 6380 to 5980 level.
Indian
markets attained its highest closing level in more five weeks on positive
economic data. India’s economy grew 4.7 percent in the quarter ended December,
slower than the previous quarter’s 4.8 per cent and dashing the government’s hope of
a recovery from the second half. Capital goods shares were the star performers during
last week. The market was volatile as traders rolled over positions in the F&O segment.
Nifty up by 121 points, closed at 6276. Sensex garnered by 419 points, closed at 21120.
World markets traded mixed during the week on the back of mixed economic data.
Europe stocks traded mixed with CAC up by 0.62 %, DAX up by 0.36% and FTSE down
by 0.41%. US markets higher with DJIA jumped by 1.36%, NASDAQ up by 1.05% and
S&P 500 climbed by 1.26%. Asian indices traded mixed over mixed sentiments; Nikkei
went down by 0.17%, Jakarta down by 0.56%, Straits Times up 0.35% and Hang Seng
jumped by 1.19%. Seol went up by 1.13% and KLSE closed flat to positive up by 0.27%.
