2. Why people migrate?
Political Reasons: A wide range of political reasons
are arrayed with the term ‘immigration.’ People
immigrate to maintain a global presence amongst
various countries. Moreover, few think that they are
not decked with ample political freedom, so they
immigrate to other countries in search of the same.
Some change their citizenship to gain a new
identity, some to get political rights and others for a
better living ambiance.
3. Immigration statistics
A 2012 survey by Gallup found roughly 640 million
adults would like to migrate to another country
permanently if they had the chance. Nearly one-
quarter (23%) of these respondents, which translates
to more than 150 million adults worldwide, named
the United States as their desired future
residence, while an additional 7% of
respondents, representing an estimated 45
million, chose the United Kingdom. The other top
desired destination countries (those where an
estimated 25 million or more adults would like to go)
were Canada, France, Saudi
Arabia, Australia, Germany and Spain.
4. Who migrates?
The potential is for any one to migrate however most
migrants have moved countries for job
opportunities, political freedoms or more economic
improvement.
