Mise en scene!-Macbeth

Locations: fine dining room, clean kitchen, dirty scrap yard and scrap van, posh car.

Studio: lighting in studio well controlled not artificial lighting.

Set design: nice car represents richness and high class, room set out nice. woman
changes the setting of the cutlery slightly, represented as picky. Circle of magnetic
knifes behind the chef in the kitchen scene, to show the chef has power because he
controls the knifes.

Costume and makeup: woman putting makeup on wearing nice red blouse and
trousers seems very sure of herself and likes to look after her appearance. Top cook
wearing all white and his friend all in black irony chefs wicked one. Macbeth
wearing knitted metal apron-link back to actual play of armour. All bin men in same
clothing, represents them as being part of a group

Performance expression: Duncan, no smiling looks quite serious and important. Lady
Macbeth and top chef seen as in a relationship making each other seem as ahigher
status. Chef gives a sarcastic smile to the chef on TV- this represents him as knowing
better.

Props:knifes to show power. First thing we hear before seeing the kitchen,
emphasises the knives as an important part of the scene.

Lighting: tables dominant in the shot spotlights on the middle of table emphasising
the dining room as important where the two people are in shadow and not as
important. Lighting brings out the mood of the scene. Kitchen tones of blue and grey
suggests, coldness and sterile. Pigs head red for the blood, suggests contrast and
that he’s in control of the pig.
