Bethany Barr visited Guatemala in August 2015 with her family to explore potential partnership opportunities for their charity, Charlene's Project, which currently does work in Uganda. They worked in two remote mountain villages alongside a local organization called Hope of Life International, commissioning water projects and seeing needs for school and church repairs. The family was moved by the communities and people they encountered, deciding to partner with the villages in the future. They ask for prayers and support as they begin this new work in Guatemala, continuing the vision of Bethany's late sister Charlene.

The document discusses treatments for moderate to severe psoriasis. It describes current conventional treatments and their limitations, as well as newer biologic treatments that target specific cytokines and immunologic factors. Several new biologic agents have been approved to target cytokines like TNF-alpha, IL-12/IL-23, and IL-17. These newer treatments, particularly the IL-17 inhibitors ixekizumab and secukinumab, have demonstrated higher rates of skin clearance in clinical trials compared to older treatments, as measured by PASI scores and number needed to treat. However, payers do not generally prioritize psoriasis as a condition requiring intensive case management.

La Gonave Community and Child Association (LGCCA) was created by a group of friends following a visit by the founder to La Gonave Island in March of 2012. Ailsa Young, an RN from Vancouver, BC, had been invited to visit La Gonave Island by Jean Rony Toussaint, the Chairman of a Haitian grassroots charity ASHOG while volunteering at a hospital in Port au Prince the previous year. Her testimonial from that visit can be viewed at www.helplagonave.org. Upon return to Canada LGCCA was formed and given Non Profit status. The application for Charitable status is in progress.

This document discusses challenges faced by children in Elayi village, Nigeria. It describes a little girl who carries heavy buckets of water from the far away and crocodile-infested Kaduna River, instead of being in school, to help her family. It also mentions little boys from the village who enjoy playing but have little time due to work, and their hope that a new school being built will provide them an opportunity to learn. The document also provides brief information about an organization called Friends of the Poor - Africa that works to provide relief from poverty through schools, clinics and other projects in Africa.
Kiltamany Primary School is located in Samburu County, Kenya between conservation areas. It started in 1996 with 75 pupils, initially only enrolling boys. Girls' education is important to empower them and end practices like early marriage and female genital mutilation. The school lacks resources like teachers and materials. BRCK aims to increase education access through community groups and empowering persons with disabilities. Charts show increasing enrollment over time, with girls' participation growing after an initial period with only boys enrolled. The program aims to reduce poverty and illiteracy through education.
The annual report summarizes Maggie's Place activities in 2014. It celebrates preserving life as the organization's most important success, housing 47 newborns and their mothers. The report details housing, counseling, job training, and educational support programs that helped over 300 women. A new administrative center provided expanded outreach and support for alumni mothers. Financial information shows support from individual donors funds most programming.
Richard, a new mongoose at DAKTARI, was brought there after being alone and biting people at a house. Willy the scrub hare was raised at DAKTARI and released into the bush. Storm the spotted eagle owl grew feathers and learned to fly independently. Herbie the porcupine's home was expanded after growing larger than expected. Shady the donkey's leg wound healed with veterinary care. Otts the new mongoose died from an unknown chronic liver condition. The newsletter provides updates on animals, children, fundraising and donating opportunities.
A year ago, the Enhance Worldwide team was anxiously awaiting the launch of our programs in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A year later, we're toasting with tej, Ethiopian honey wine, to the girls and young women navigating a way out of poverty through our educational programs.
The document discusses the author's passion for travel, exploration of different cultures around the world, and hope to continue exploring.
