Failure to Succeed? 4 Steps to Overcome Fear of Failure
1. Your goal is to succeed, but did you know you’re actually BLOCKING your own success with
your fear of failure?
It’s true.
Don’t be afraid of falling.
I know, I know, it’s easier said than done. We’re always so scared of what other people might
think…but think about this:
If you were the only person on earth, would you still hold your fear of failure, or would be more inclined
to try try again, until you got it right?
You need to understand that your failure does not define you or the person you are. It’s just an event
that occurs in your life. And if you change the way you look at it, you’ll quickly begin to see the value
within all the times you don’t get it right…because you’ll realize that THAT is what brings you closer
to the one time you will get it right.
The 4 Steps to Overcome Fear of Failure
1. Acknowledge the failure
Don’t push aside what just happened. Don’t sweep it under the rug and forget it. There is a TON of
VALUE to be found in a mistake, and you need to dig for it. So instead of strengthening your fear of
failure by saying “I knew that would happen!” or “I’m never doing that again!”, acknowledge the error
by knowing exactly what it is you did wrong. Knowing what you did wrong will help you correct
course and put you on the path to success.
2. 2. Remember a past failure
Ok, be strong now. I’m not telling you to wallow further into your fear of failure by remembering all
the things you did wrong. Just recognize a past failure and look at the outcome. Did you world come
crashing down? And even if it did, chances are you became stronger and wiser because of what you
went through. Use a reference in your past that will strengthen you in the present moment by
showing you that you DO have the power to overcome these types of situations.
3. Listen to success stories of other people
THIS IS POWERFUL! There were times where I thought I had it bad, and just listening to other
people’s success stories of a similar situation totally lifted me up and made me realize that I CAN
overcome it. The more you engage in this step, the faster your fear of failure will dwindle away as
you take on a new perspective.
4. Learn, reflect, and re-assess
The most important step. Ask yourself: What am I meant to learn from this? What is the next
step? Find the lesson in your mistake and store away that new piece of knowledge. When you make
another attempt, you can factor in what didn’t work which will bring you closer to your goal.
