Analysing Charity Posters By Annette Christian 12CS2
The audience this poster are targeting are teenagers and maybe even children too.  This is because a young girl is used to represent this age group. Even though a teenager girl is used on the poster, the message the NSPCC are trying to put out, still could apply to males and  children too What we can see from the framing of the image is that there is a close up of a teenage girl’s face. The expression on her face is blank but there is a ring around a her mouth. The text is at the bottom of the poster and there is a heading, ‘When you can’t talk about abuse, talk to us’, followed by more text underneath. The heading is in bold and clear against the image to be seen. The image and text have combined with one and other because they are linked. The heading, ‘When you can’t talk about abuse, talk to us’, is effective against the image because there is a piercing around a young girls mouth which symbolises she cannot or is unable to talk. She is used to represent children or teens, who are suffering from abuse and feel that they aren’t unable to tell anyone. NSPCC however, persuade children and teens to at least open up to them for help The message being conveyed is that children and teens may be being abused and are unable to speak out. This is because they may find it difficult, the abuser may be older or very controlling. The image is very graphic  and could emphasise even more, how difficult it is to speak when a lip piercing is around your mouth. The piercing could represent  the fact that it’s an actual challenger to speak out or it could also represent the abuser. The heading of the poster is very straight to the point  so the message is direct and easy to understand for  both teens and children NSOCC logo and slogan. Shows branding
The text on the poster, helps you to understand the meaning associated with the image. It says, ‘YOU CAN HELP. STOP GLOBAL WARMING’. The denotations of the image is a polo bear on a dirty street, slumped down with a blanket beside him. The poster shows that the Polar Bear is taking the place of a homeless man, and what the audience understand from both the image and the text, is that because of Global Warming, the Polar bear has actually lost its home. Polar bears live in the  North Pole and as Global Warming has been said to be the cause of ice caps melting, the Polar Bear obviously has no place to live as their natural habitat is being destroyed. This would lead onto an extinction of Polar Bears which the WWF want to put a stop to by campaigning  Colour red is used. Red is usually associated with  warning or danger.  Can mean  it’s vital for audience to help stop the increase of Global Warming because of it dangers and what  it can lead onto in the future The poster is universal. It may target everyone, of both genders, of all ages.  WWF is a charity focused on the  welfare of animals.  The logo is shown so it’s obvious  that  message the poster is conveying will be associated with animals
