1. HPSI Advisory Board – Talking Points for Lucinda
Currently, the “Advisory Board” is informal
o Various people who have supported me or HPSI
o Some have expressed a desire to do more
o I communicate with them individually
I have been grateful for their/your support and have learned so much from
these relationships
But there is potential for using this group of advisers more effectively
o Many raise money for other arts or nonprofit groups
o Many have a commitment to developing South Side institutions
o I realized that I need to give them a specific task in order to
strengthen the relationship
Want to start modestly and to keep the group small
To start, the Advisory Board would be the Host Committee for Winter
Benefit Performance
o Proposed financial commitment: $2500
o Host pre- or post-performance reception
o Invite friends and colleagues to concert
What we hope will happen:
o Expand our circle of supporters through invitees
o Increase commitment of people who are current supporters, but
haven’t had a way to give a little more
o Raise from the Advisory Board a minimum of $25,000
o Generate new ideas about how to help HPSI
Next Steps
o We are meeting with proposed Advisory Board Members
o Want to secure their commitment by end of July
o Will have a meeting or conference call in September
o Will begin planning for the Winter Performance
