Every business organization knows that it must continuously innovate in order to maintain its competitiveness. However, it is important to make sure that its innovation efforts go hand in hand with its business strategy. Any Innovation initiative in your organization must incorporate tools to facilitate such alignment.
2. How does InnovaBoard Work?
InnovaBoard uses the concept of Internal Crowdsourcing: That is, sourcing of ideas from an
organization’s collaborators to address strategic challenges it faces at any given time.
3. InnovaBoard’s Exploration Campaigns use the SWOT Model (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and
Threats) to help you evaluate your business environment and identify areas of Strategic Innovation.
You then use Innovation Campaigns to address such areas.
How does InnovaBoard Helps you define your Innovation
Strategy?
4. An Innovation Campaigns establishes a challenge that your organization needs to address. It then
seeks ideas from campaign participants to address said challenge. Campaigns also provide
functionality to evaluate, select, and implement ideas contributed by participants. Campaigns can be
public, where all collaborators participate, or private, where only those that are invited participate.
Innovation Campaigns
5. The challenge statement is prominently displayed in each Innovation Campaign. The Challenge
Statement addresses two important issues: 1) It expresses the goal of the campaign and therefore the
nature of the ideas that each participant should contribute; and 2) It aligns the campaign goals with
the business strategy.
The Challenge Statement
6. Innovation Committees Evaluate the ideas. These are interdisciplinary groups that jointly have the
domain knowledge to evaluate an idea. You can setup as many Innovation Committees as you need.
They can be aligned to functional areas, business units, or any other way that suits your needs.
InnovaBoard provides functionality to facilitate the evaluation process:
• Deciding which Innovation Committee(s) participate in each campaign;
• Automatic routing of ideas to the appropriate innovation committees;
• Private meeting rooms where committees may exchange evaluation information;
• Messaging among committee members and between committees and Idea owners.
Who evaluates the ideas?
7. InnovaBoard features tools to help Innovation Committees with the idea evaluation process. These are
the following:
• Classification of ideas:
• Innovation types. Measures the impact of an idea in the business. By default InnoaBoard
features Continuous Improvement, Incremental, and Disruptive. There is a configuration
option to customize these;
• Innovation Objectives. Also setup in configuration. By default InnovaBoard sets up the
following: Revenue Generation, Cost Reduction, Quality Improvement.
• Corporate Social Responsibility Impact.
• Evaluation Matrix. Up to 5 stars assignment by each member of the evaluating Innovation
Committee. The matrix evaluates ease of implementation, priority, risk, value added to
customers, to employees, to stockholders, or to the community;
• Voting by committee members on acceptance or rejection of idea;
• Financial analysis tool.
How does Innovation Committees prioritize ideas?
8. Innovaboard assigns InnoPoints to collaborators that actively contribute to Innovation Campaigns.
Participants earn points for entering ideas, or when their ideas move positively in the evaluation
workflow. There are dashboards that display points earned as well as rankings of participants with the
most InnoPoints.
InovaBoard also provides functionality to create a newsfeed where the organization can recognize
ideas or collaborators that excel in the innovation process, as well as show casing successes resulting
from all collaborators working together.
