Political economy is the study of production and trade and their relations with law, custom and government as well as with the distribution of national income and wealth. It analyzes how economic systems or policies influence the distribution of resources in a society. Political economy is concerned with how economic and political processes interact and how they affect resource allocation, the production of goods and services, and the structure and functioning of economic systems.
