We’re slowly, but surely shifting from the industrial school model to a school that is wired for spontaneous and practical learning.
Within a generation this country economy has drastically changed from an industrial base economy to a service economy. What does this mean? It mean we as educators has to rethink how we educate kids for a job that doesn't or won’t exist once they enter the workforce. Today’s worker will has to possess more social and technical skills than the generation before. Since the early nineties, technology has exponentially increased in the work place and has slowly but surely enter its way into public education. The writing is on the wall and the message is understood by many that the times are a changing. Thus, we must usher kids from the industrial way of doing things into the information era. On swift wings the information era arrived and almost immediately turn into the digital age.
It speaks to today’s generation of learners. In a world of instant electronic gratification the web 2.0 fills the void and podcasting/vodcasting are one of the appropriate tools.
