GOLDBRECHT USA launches sophisticated Swiss Retracting Window Wall System in
North America
LOS ANGELES – July 29, 2009 – Goldbrecht European Window and Door Solutions, the high-end
European fenestration specialist, is bringing the world’s most proven and tested retractable
window wall system to North America.
With the touch of a button, an entire glass façade vanishes into a sub-floor service bay, creating
a vast open space. The system allows totally new dimensions that are not achievable in any
other way, thus redefining the concept of openness. Units as large as 52’ wide by 16’ tall have
been built. But that’s not all. The system also offers floor transitions without a threshold as well
as superb thermal insulation.
The Swiss retractable window system is based on over 10 years of retracting window wall
experience and ultra-modern structural glass technology.
The system leaves room for building specific adjustments allowing client wishes to be included in
the planning process. If required, very narrow frame widths and wing profiles can be achieved. It
is possible to manufacture single units or several units in a row. Solutions are available in all-
glass, wood and metal.
Movement is achieved through an electromechanical drive. The motor, the controls and the
necessary components for operation are supplied by the manufacturer, who also performs the
installation.
The window wing is mounted on chains over rolls that are mounted on the roof of the lower
floor, neutrally on a counter weight. In the case of insufficient height for the sub-floor service
bay, the counterweight can be redirected and then only requires half the height but twice the
weight.
The guidance of the units occurs along lateral tracks. Precise mechanics guarantee an absolute
smooth and quiet operation.
