- disclaimer i am not qualified to talk about social media - going to talk more about experimental stuff / having fun with it - irrelevant, but I like it - altered reality is funny - absurdity is funny
- @horse_ebooks
- started from seeing eightbit - all looked kind of the same
- tweet that started as a joke - more people wanted them - thought it would be fun to create parody version
- instead of automating everything, relied on a human component - made it harder to scale/maintain - made it more personal - got more artists involved after a little while - made it easier to scale but still hard - opened it so anyone could draw art - made it easier to maintain - opened new connections between eightshit users - still an approval process so people don't get scribbles or anything
- you can have fun / be silly with things - especially if you are good at the things you advertise yourself to be good at - don't need to do everything just to get followers - if that's all you're trying to do people will probably notice - find new ways to interact with audience - even if it is making them interact with each other
- is a campaign/experiment/whatever worth continuing - is it maintainable - can you keep working on it - does it need regular updating - is it scalable - will you need more resources if it catches on - the more personal, the trickier it'll be to scale - do other people like it - don't force things on people - do you like doing it - Pepsi Canada wasn't super big thing but I liked doin it - sometimes that is enough - still lessons to learn
