Excavation Of Grave

Editor's Notes

  1. This is the hole in the cement through which the dog had pulled the original bone. The white sheet was placed there by LVMPD to prevent dirt from filling into the hole.
  2. Different view with a portion of concrete encasement shown.
  3. Lt. Monahan (Homicide) diligently working in hole while being supervised by two of his detectives.
  4. Shovels were used to remove the dirt around the concrete working from the edges inwards.
  5. As shovels full of dirt are removed from the hole they are dumped onto the sifter. The dirt falls through but rocks and other items are left behind. Several bullets were found in the dirt.
  6. Once the dirt is sifted it is then checked with a metal detector.
  7. A piece of apparent insulation recovered from the sifted dirt.
  8. A sheet is placed over the entire hole and then using a sharpie the hole is outlined. This porvides a one-to-one scale of the hole dimensions.
  9. The remains left once the top portion had been removed. Notice how small the rib cage appears to be.
