position.
The Times Higher Education100 Under 50 shows evidence of progress among Spain’s universities. The leading Spanish
universityis the PompeuFabra inBarcelona, which takesthe number 25 spot. The other three are the Autónoma Universityof
Madrid (number 52), the Technical Universityof Valencia(80) and the Technical Universityof Catalonia(99).
The Times Higher Education100 Under 50 is a league table that ranks the world’s best universitiesthat are under 50 years old.
The aim is to give a visionof their future prospects, signallingwhichuniversities are likelyto do best future. The rankingis
basedonthe 13 indicators of the WorldUniversityRankings, but the methodologyhas beenmodifiedto include the special
characteristics of these universities.
The list was drawn upbytaking account ofaspects such as the universities’ researchandscientific influence, educational
quality, students andtheir backgrounds, and innovation.
The improvement inSpanishuniversities goes hand in handwiththe well-known qualityof the Masters in Finance offeredby
Spanish academic institutions.
According to the FinancialTimes, the IE BusinessSchool andEsade are the five best economic academic institutions inthe
world. These twoinstitutions were listed onthe newspaper’s 2013 league table of Masters inFinance. Some 88% of students on
the IE’s Master of Finance programme come from 29 different countries. Meanwhile, Esade’s Master of Finance has enormous
international clout, according to theFinancial Times, with the salaries of its students being among the 10 highest of all the
Masters degrees analysed.
