GREG SMITH joined Sterne Agee in June 2011 as a Managing Director and Senior Research
Analyst covering Financial Technology companies. Prior to Sterne Agee, he was a Managing
Director and Senior Research Analyst at Duncan-Williams, where he was a key hire in the
formation of the firm’s Equity Capital Markets division. In 2011, Greg was ranked as the #1
Earnings Estimator in the IT Services Industry by StarMine. Prior to Duncan-Williams, Greg
served as an independent consultant advising on a $3bn Financial Technology acquisition. From
2002 through 2009, Mr. Smith was a Senior Research Analyst at Merrill Lynch where he
followed Computer Services and IT Consulting companies. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in
2002, Greg was a Senior Research Analyst at JP Morgan covering Financial Technology
companies. While at JP Morgan, Greg was named to the Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the
Street” 2001 survey as a top earnings forecaster in the Securities Brokerage category. Greg
joined JP Morgan following the acquisition of Hambrecht & Quist by Chase and the subsequent
merger of Chase and JP Morgan. Prior to joining Hambrecht & Quist in 1999, Greg was a
Research Analyst at Putnam Lovell where he covered electronic trading, online brokerage, and
asset management companies. At Putnam Lovell, he was part of a team that was ranked the
number one regional research team covering the Brokerage and Asset Management sector by
Institutional Investor Magazine in 1998. Prior to joining Putnam Lovell in 1997, Greg held
various positions at Franklin Resources. He received his B.A. in Business Economics from the
University of California at Santa Barbara.
