1. Foreign Aid Argument Open Response
Having been studying Africa for the last several weeks, and just reading an article on Kenya, we see that chronic
food shortages affect millions of people, not only in Africa, but around the world each year. Within the past few
years, the United States has provided billions of dollars to countries around the world and I ask you, “Do you feel
that the United States should be giving money to other countries or should they use that money for things within
our own country?” This is a topic that people within our country greatly debate! I want you to choose only one
side of the argument and for you to do some outside research to back up your position with actual information
that provides details on why you feel the way that you do. Please use this graphic organizer to plot out your
information before you do your writing.
-You must have a very clear thesis statement at the beginning that very clearly states if you agree or disagree.
-Remember to choose only one side of the argument.
-Your response must be two paragraphs long with a minimum of 6 sentences in each paragraph.
-Spelling, grammar, and topic sentences are all going to be counted as a part of your grade.
-You must use 2 separate sources and be sure to include them on your source tracker.
