Good response at DU’s first-ever job fair
Over 40 well-known companies and establishments participated in
the first-ever job fair held in Delhi University on Tuesday. The fair,
organised by Delhi University Students’ Union, was inaugurated by
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who described it as a constructive step.
She also noted that the controversial four-year degree course was
getting a good response from students.
Ms. Dikshit expressed confidence that a large numbers of students
will be able to gain employment through the job fair and the
participating companies will definitely offer remunerative
placements. She also referred to the job fair organised by the Delhi
Government at Pusa for polytechnic/ITI pass-outs which facilitated
job opportunities for 4,000 students. The Government will soon
open admissions to its skill development institute being set up in
Jaunapur in association with the Government of Singapore. Initially,
the institute will function from a college in the trans-Yamuna area,
she said.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Yoganand Shastri said DUSU must be
complimented for its pioneering efforts in bringing a large number
of employers to one place.
