i dont know what format was used, and i am not sure if the person who converted it to dvd finalized
the burning process, so is there any way to get the video on to another dvd disc? or a software that
can read it?

Best Answer: It sounds as if the DVD disk wasn't "finalized" after being recorded/copied. I'm not
really sure that anything can be done now since this DVD-R disk isn't rewritable. Contact the person
responsible for the copy to see if you can get one that will work on your computer DVD-ROM. The
last thing after a DVD disk has finished being burned is, when you eject it, you get a message saying
to wait while disk is "finalized" so it can be played in other computers. After a minute or so, it will
eject.

Do you happen to know if this was burned using a computer or DVD recorder? Some brands like
Magnavox make it so you cannot read the recorded disc on any other machine but the one it was
recorded with, if this has happen to you there is no way to read it.
