5. Soft, crepe soled shoes padded between small beds
that contained even smaller lives.

6. For most, being in a hospital is a stressful experience but for us,
this is the best part of our day.

7. The time where we can sit and make a difference in one small life.
The premature infant ward allows us to touch, stroke and hold
those babies brought into the world too soon.

8. Since studies have shown that all newborns respond positively to
touch and sound they now let volunteers come in to help these
precious children.

9. Today, little Allison waits to be cuddled. Careful to avoid the small
oxygen mask that helps her tiny, undeveloped lungs function and
the wires that monitor her heart and oxygen levels, Victoria gently
lift her into her arms.

10. Baby Kyle looks at Patricia with his wise gaze as she coaxes him
to enjoy a warm meal.

11. Our hour passes quickly and we snuggle one last time before
returning them to their tiny protective beds.
As we say good night to “the ladies of the evening”; our term
for those patient nurses that guard those precious lives,
we know that we will sleep well and have sweet dreams of
tiny babies that will grow and run and sing at the top of
their fully functioning lungs.

13. There is nothing more relaxing than holding a sleeping
baby and there is nothing more rewarding than making
a difference.

15. so help a stranger today, open a door to someone with their hands
full, give a kind word and smile to someone who is harried, put a
dollar in the hat sitting at the feet of a street musician,

16. Look up and feel the universe smile upon you. You'll
sleep better... and so will those you helped.
