The WPC-Conservation Finance Journey is an opportunity not only to learn on conservation finance but it will also be a place to engage more fully the conservation finance community and collectively seek to address the biodiversity funding gap while making sense to the investors. Conservation finance issues will be addressed across several different streams, sessions and events at the WPC. This guide is to help you identify sessions and events related to conservation finance.

Conservation Finance Journey - 2 
A platform for practitioners to meet and share lessons as well as a venue to learn about conservation finance, the Pavilion is organized along five main daily themes and will display solid tools for: (Nov. 13) financial needs analysis and PA system financing, (Nov. 14) business and investor-driven approaches breaking new grounds, (Nov. 15) small grants mechanisms effectively enabling civil society organisations to play a stronger role in conservation, (Nov. 17) Conservation Trust Funds mobilising beyond traditional donors, and (Nov. 18) large Initiatives encompassing various financing instruments. Come and join us for various activities such as panels, presentations, knowledge cafés, launching events and many others. Come and meet the CFA on November 13th from 12:00 to 13:30 for an introduction to the Conservation Finance Journey & the Pavilion program, together with the first convening of the CFA Global membership. Conservation finance journey on World Parks Congress - Sydney Novembre 2014

The WPC-Conservation Finance Journey is an opportunity not only to learn on conservation finance but it will also be a place to engage more fully the conservation finance community and collectively seek to address the biodiversity funding gap while making sense to the investors. Conservation finance issues will be addressed across several different streams, sessions and events at the WPC. Conservation Finance Journey - 2 A platform for practitioners to meet and share lessons as well as a venue to learn about conservation finance, the Pavilion is organized along five main daily themes and will display solid tools for: (Nov. 13) financial needs analysis and PA system financing, (Nov. 14) business and investor-driven approaches breaking new grounds, (Nov. 15) small grants mechanisms effectively enabling civil society organisations to play a stronger role in conservation, (Nov. 17) Conservation Trust Funds mobilising beyond traditional donors, and (Nov. 18) large Initiatives encompassing various financing instruments. Come and join us for various activities such as panels, presentations, knowledge cafés, launching events and many others. Charley Room “ Hands-on capacity session : PAs, natural capital accounting, and economic valuation” (Part 2) Chairs: Stig Johansson & Sofia Ahlroth This session will provide participants with concrete tools to learn about different approaches to natural capital accounting and economic valuation, and how to integrate the results of these studies into national accounting frameworks and decision-making processes. Playfair Room 2 “Opportunities and challenges to produce food in protected areas” Chair: Paul Vantomme Learning ways in which communities can benefit from wild and semi-domesticated plant and animal species in PAs and the implications for planners and managers of the areas. Hub 2 12:00 - 13:30 Conservation with small grants -- the view of the grantees. Small grantees sharing their experience on how accessing our funds help them advance the protected area agenda and play a key role supporting the conservation of biodiversity. Southee North room “Financing PAs through Payments for Environmental Services (PES): A possibility?” Chair: Rao Matta, FAO Examining the challenges facing PES; their role in strengthening the financial sustainability of PAs and the ways and means of improving their effectiveness and scaling-up. Panel of speakers with examples where PES has been applied. Hall 3B2 “Hands-on capacity session: Mobilizing financial resources for PAs” (Part 2) Key speakers: David Meyers, Carlos Manuel Rodriguez, Jamison Ervin, David Meyers Participants will learn about a wide range of financing mechanisms, and gain a greater understanding of how a cohesive approach to finance, including a review of policies and past expenditures, and policy alignment, can help contribute to increasing financial support for PAs.
