3. Early Family Life
• Vehbi KOÇ born on July 20,1901 in Çoraklı, Ankara, Ottoman
Empire(will be claimed as Turkish Republic on October 29,
1923)
• His mother’s side was known Kütükçüzadeler and father’s side
was known Koçzadeler .
• He was first child of his father Koçzade Hacı Mustafa Efendi
and mother Kütükçüzade Fatma Hanım . Later on, he got 2
sisters , Zehra and Hüsniye.
• He died in an hotel on February 25,1996 in Antalya, Turkey.
• When he died, his daughter and son-in-law was with him.
4. Education
• He started primary school when he was 5-years-old.
• Afterwards, He went his highschool named Taş Mektep but he
didn’t graduate from there because he decided to start
business.
5. Business Life
• His began his business career in 1917 at a small grocery store
his father opened in Ankara for him . This firm was registered
as ‘’Koçzade Ahmet Vehbi’’ in 1926 at the Ankara Chamber of
Commerce.
• He became the local representative of Ford Motor
Company and Standard Oil (now known as Mobil) in 1928.
• While construction activities increasing, he began trading
construction materials, building supplies and hardware.
• After establishment of branch offices in Istanbul andEskişehir
in 1938, He gathered his enterprises under the company Koç
Ticaret A.Ş.
• He signed an agreement with General Electric in 1948 to build
a light bulb factory and opened it in 1952.
6. Business Life Cont.
• He became active in manufactured automobiles, household
appliances, radiators, electronic devices, textiles and matches
industries in 1950.
• Today's giant automotive industry and the supporting
industries all stemmed from the tiny spark initiated by Vehbi
Koç.

• It’s a family company hold by Koç family.
• It’s still one of the most important companies of Turkey.
