How To Make A Manicure Last Longer: 5 Simple Tips
Author: Marie Sanchez | Article Source | “Like” UrbaneWomen On Facebook

At last, you get to the nail salon for a much-needed manicure, but you notice that after a few days
some of your nails have started to chip.

With today's economy, it's important to make a professional manicure last as long as possible. The
following tips will help you keep your nails beautiful in between manicures.

1. Bring Your Own Polish With You To Your Manicure

You can easily touch up a chipped nail if you have the exact match color on hand to do so.

Therefore, bring your own color from home with you to your manicure appointment and ask your
manicurist to apply your own nail polish.

2. Let Your Nails Completely Dry

Whether you are at home or at the nail salon, be sure your
fingernails have completely dried before applying fresh nail
                                        polish.

The polish will stick to a drier surface better than a damp
one. Use cotton pads that are lint-free with an acetone
remover to remove any old nail polish.

3. Avoid Hot Water Or Extreme Temperatures

Depending on where you live and your particular climate,
most nail polishes can take as long as 12 hours to
completely dry.

Try to keep your nails away from things like hot tubs, taking
a hot bath or steam shower, washing a sink full of hot
dishes, or sitting in a sauna for at least 12 hours after
applying nail polish.

4. Apply Nail Polish To The Edges Of Your Nails

Make sure you apply the nail polish to the edges of your nail
                                        tips.

This will double protect the nail from chipping and breaking.
It will almost appear as if the nail tip is painted from
                                        underneath the nail.

5. Keep Your Nails And Cuticles Properly Oiled

Apply cuticle oil to both your nails and cuticles every day. This will
replenish moisture to your nail beds to prevent your nails from
                           breaking and chipping.

Nail oils are rich with vitamin E and other vital ingredients to maintain
                           healthy cuticles and nails.
