1.1 Industry Advantage(s)

• High biomass availability: Around 120-150 MT/year, corresponding to
    16’000 MW potential
• Income tax concession of 80% depreciation on boiler
• Zero import duty
• Capital subsidies from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)
    or it’s nodal agencies
 MNRE Planning Commission currently supporting biomass by giving
    concessions to developers.
 State utilities provide special price (Rs.3.15/unit enhanced to
    Rs.4.50/unit) for power take off.
 Govt. nods ‘Go Green’ for Third Party Sales to the extent 80:20 and the
current market rate for Third party sales is Rs.7~8 per unit. The existing
    rate is Rs.3.15/unit
 Licenses are given in a restrictive way, to avoid competition for
    biomass within an area
 Carbon Credits Available under Clean Development Mechanism-CDM
Raw Material - Conventional Practice

                 Transportation Unloading of Dressed Wood

                                           Chipping of Dressed wood

                                                        Consumption
Raw Material - Conventional Practice

 Cutting of wood from nearby villages.
 Cutting of wood by Labours.
 Slower rate of cutting.
 Product is ‘Dressed Wood’ in form of 1~2metres long.
 ‘Finer and Thin’ branches are under utilized or left at site, itself.
 ‘Manual Loading’ is involved for such dressed wood in trucks.
 Transportation is involved for such loaded wood to destination.
 ‘Manual Unloading’ is involved for such dressed wood from trucks
    at destination.
 Actual Chipping at destination ; wood by wood.
 Labour charges applicable for cutting, loading and unloading.
 Transportation cost includes for Moisture and Space.
 Inherent limitations on availability of labours, due to human
    factor/local cultural events.

 Generating “Wood Chips” at site Advantage(s)-Wood Chips
from wood.  ‘Ready to use fuel’

 Raw Material and Lands- Advance  ‘Low Moisture’

 In pursuit of efficient fuels i.e.,  ‘Dry Metric Tons’
Older Julia Flora.  ‘No Hidden Cost’
 Continuous R&D at in-house Lab.  ‘Full Efficiency of Boiler’
 Well organized ‘Mechanized

3.3 Raw Material – Prathyusha’s Practice
1.2 Brief Profile of Power Plant
Prathyusha Power Gen Private Limited is the 10MW Bio-
Mass Power Generation unit which is strategically located near
Tirunelvelli Substation amidst the cluster of Paper Mills, which
attracts the Raw Materials by default.
The plant has got almost all infrastructures to meet and run
indigenously for consistent power generation. The list includes
latest weigh-bridge, Chippers, best of class Equipment, Raw
Material storage yard, handling yard, water supply, office
building, guest house, security system, two-tier boundaries and
also as part of Raw Material Supply- the short-listed and
identified lands to cater the future need of Raw Material.

The water for the plant is supplied from the underground well
dug however in order to meet the future’s enhanced supply,
the direct pipe line from the nearby perennial river is under
active consideration.

  • 4. Contents…  Geographical Location  Abundance of Julia Flora  Industry Advantage  Raw Material - Conventional Practice  Raw Material – Prathyusha’s Practice  Brief Profile of Power Plant  Salient Features  Plant and Machinery Details  Clean Development Mechanism CDM  Supporting Firms
  • 11. 1.1 Industry Advantage(s) • High biomass availability: Around 120-150 MT/year, corresponding to 16’000 MW potential • Income tax concession of 80% depreciation on boiler • Zero import duty • Capital subsidies from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) or it’s nodal agencies  MNRE Planning Commission currently supporting biomass by giving concessions to developers.  State utilities provide special price (Rs.3.15/unit enhanced to Rs.4.50/unit) for power take off.  Govt. nods ‘Go Green’ for Third Party Sales to the extent 80:20 and the current market rate for Third party sales is Rs.7~8 per unit. The existing rate is Rs.3.15/unit  Licenses are given in a restrictive way, to avoid competition for biomass within an area  Carbon Credits Available under Clean Development Mechanism-CDM
  • 12. Raw Material - Conventional Practice Cutting Stacking of Dressed wood Transportation Unloading of Dressed Wood Chipping of Dressed wood Consumption
  • 13. Raw Material - Conventional Practice  Cutting of wood from nearby villages.  ‘Manual Unloading’ is involved for such dressed wood from trucks at destination.  Actual Chipping at destination ; wood by wood.  Labour charges applicable for cutting, loading and unloading.  Transportation cost includes for Moisture and Space.  Inherent limitations on availability of labours, due to human factor/local cultural events.
  • 14. Raw Material – Mechanization Drive Cutting by JCB Chips stack management Inter-carting by BOBCAT Loading of Chips at site Feeding to Chipper Compaction Chipper in action Ready to Use
  • 15. 1.3 Raw Material –Mechanization Drive  Generating “Wood Chips” at site Advantage(s)-Wood Chips from wood.  ‘Ready to use fuel’  Raw Material and Lands- Advance  ‘Low Moisture’ Reservation  ‘Low Transportation Cost’  In pursuit of efficient fuels i.e.,  ‘Dry Metric Tons’ Older Julia Flora.  ‘No Hidden Cost’  Continuous R&D at in-house Lab.  ‘Full Efficiency of Boiler’  Well organized ‘Mechanized Operations’  ‘Two Tier’ System for Raw Material sourcing-Own & IIIrd Party.  Spot Payments to Raw material Vendors
  • 16. 2.3 Raw Material – Prathyusha’s Practice
  • 17. 3.3 Raw Material – Prathyusha’s Practice
  • 18. 1.2 Brief Profile of Power Plant Prathyusha Power Gen Private Limited is the 10MW Bio- Mass Power Generation unit which is strategically located near Tirunelvelli Substation amidst the cluster of Paper Mills, which attracts the Raw Materials by default. The plant has got almost all infrastructures to meet and run indigenously for consistent power generation. The list includes latest weigh-bridge, Chippers, best of class Equipment, Raw Material storage yard, handling yard, water supply, office building, guest house, security system, two-tier boundaries and also as part of Raw Material Supply- the short-listed and identified lands to cater the future need of Raw Material. The water for the plant is supplied from the underground well dug however in order to meet the future’s enhanced supply, the direct pipe line from the nearby perennial river is under active consideration.
