3. The Pete is an efficient truck when it drives in Nevada hauling 44 tons.
Lately, due to breakdowns ($4600/month average) and an overload of
local deliveries, it has not been stocking the yard. Also, we recently
converted the yard to accommodate belly dumps for 7 of our most
popular materials, which will soon be 10. These are almost as efficient as
the Pete, making it more valuable for the Pete to stock other items.
The Gooseneck trailer has been a home run. Building on that idea I
propose to sell the Pete at a loss, and replace it with 2 end dumps: 1 for
yard stock and 1 for deliveries.
Remainder from the sales of the trailer will be applied to the original loan
balance and the new loan balance applied to the trailers.
4. We owe 78,000 on the pete.
We sell it for 50,000*, which we reinvest into
the 2 trailers.
New loan balance of 61,000 divided between
the two trailers:
Long Skinny takes 41,000 of the loan
Dippy Dump takes 20,000 of the loan
*This is the number quoted over the phone by Mcandless, If we can get
more for it we will.
5. 38’ End dump– Aluminum Half round or Clement Starlite.
• Arizona Payload of 26.5+ tons
• Nevada Payload of 29 tons
• Projected monthly Cost of 11,819 ($2000 per month less than Pete)
• Way more efficient in Arizona- $12,700/ year savings
• Less breakdowns would make everyone happier!

10. We start saving money the day we stop using
the Pete. Repair cost on the Pete are greater
than payments on all other equipment.
We put the Pete up for sale and buy the Long
Skinny one and put it to work.
We buy the dippy dump in January/February
to utilize it in the busy season and free up the
Mack to do paver deliveries and the Long
Skinny to stock the yard.
12. Numbers of Pete VS Long skinny assume 100% uptime of the Pete. This
is not realistic. When the Pete goes down we rent trucks and lose
efficiency.
Using the rolling 12 month sales of Arizona rock, we have 80 days of
work for the Long Skinny just in AZ.
Regardless of how the numbers fall: $4600 per month in repairs is more
than Full maintenance lease payment and two trailer payments
combined.
The Dippy Dump could have 3 split gates. That could be a huge
advantage!
Paver sales are up 102% from last year (Through May 31). The Mack will
be doing more and more Paver deliveries.
Sales overall are up 46% over last year. We are going to be doing more
and more deliveries in General.
Might be a good idea to weigh Full Maintenance lease vs buying new.
