The European Commission has brought an action against the Republic of Poland before the Court of Justice of the European Union. The Commission claims that Poland has failed to fulfill its obligations under Directive 2014/26/EU by not adopting all necessary laws and regulations to ensure compliance with the directive, and by failing to notify the Commission of such measures, by the deadline of April 10, 2016. If found in breach, the Commission requests that Poland be ordered to pay a daily penalty payment of €87,612 from the date of judgment, due to the seriousness, duration, and need to deter such infringements.
