1.0 INTRODUCTION
Liquid Penetrant test is one of the most common technique in use for ndt.its advantage includes
economical feasibility, versatility, and only requires minimal training when compared to other techniques.
This method is more preferable as it does not harm the metal surface being inspected.
2.0 LIQUID PENETRANT TEST
Liquid Penetrant test also known as dye Penetrant test was established in early 1940’s to find out
defects at the surface level of any non porous test materials. This method is more preferable as it does
not harm the metal surface being inspected.
Liquid Penetrant test is one of the most common technique in use for ndt. its advantage includes
economical feasibility, versatility, and only requires minimal training when compared to other techniques.
This method can be applied where there is an open defect to be identified bymaking the Penetrant to
flow into the flaws and then absorbing it by applying a developer over it. the most common items which
is usually inspected by this methods are welds, castings, pipes, bars, plates and forgings. The common
defects identified by this method are cracks, seams, cluster, porosity, fractures, laps.
