2. Situated in the old historical North End of Boston,
resides a house with a rich history where long ago
a great American icon once lived.
3. Besides being a house with a
famous owner, it is also the oldest
house in downtown Boston
4. When at first standing in front of Revere's old
home across the street, one can imagine what it
must have been like to live in the old house with
its closely adjoined neighbors
5. The first person to buy and own the
house for a considerable length of
time was a wealthy merchant
named Robert Howard.
6. After changing ownership two more times, it
ended up being sold by a man named John
Irving to a then thirty-five year old Paul
Revere in 1770, who held it until 1800
7. Eventually, in 1902, the old historic home
after years of being used for many different
purposes, was bought by Paul Revere's
great grandson, John P. Reynolds Jr.
8. The building was in danger of being destroyed to
make way for something new, and John
purchased it to save the old home and piece of
history from his past heritage
9. A group of people then banded
together and formed the Paul
Revere Memorial Association
10. Their purpose was to restore,
preserve, and open to the public a
rare glimpse of American history
11. In April of 1908, after years of
renovations, the house was ready for
display and opened its doors to the
general public

13. Despite the numerous renovations the
house has been through, it retains at
least ninety percent of its originality from
its inception back in 1680
14. This is really an amazing fact that is
appreciated even more so when
viewing the house firsthand
15. For those who love to cook, a clear picture is
presented of what early colonial life was like
for the typical family of the day in preparing
their meals
16. Other than the furniture and decorum,
scattered throughout the house and in a
case outside contain some of Paul Revere's
craftsmanship he was well known for

18. Though a small house in its own right, it
boasts quite a historical record as being
the home to a great American patriot for
a considerable length of time
19. Along with the many other purposes it served
from its inception till now, this home from a
bygone era will forever be a reminder to the
people, places, and things surrounding our
nations birth
