company that produces and exports rare earths and their
derivatives.
• IRE has a monopoly on the production of rare earths in India.
• IRE also produces other rare earth products, such as dysprosium,
terbium, and yttrium, which are used in a variety of other
applications, such as lasers, glass polishing, and catalysts.
• IRE's main customers are located in China, Japan, and the United

4. •
Heavies Upgradation Plant (HUP) takes in the raw sand and removes
the rocks , Iron(Fe) and other unwanted waste
• The raw sand is sent to the Rutile and illumenite plant
•
Rutile is conducting but purely non- magnetic and is removed from the
sand
• The magnetic sand from the raw sand is sent off to the illemnite plant
•
Once the sand is processed in the illemnite plant and the illemnite is
obtained from here
• The remaining sand is sent to the other plants for further processing

5. •
Monasite is slightly magnetic and is removed in a closed off section of
the plant as it is radioactive
•
the remaining sand passed through vibrating screen to seprate the
zircon from the heavier elements.
• Silliminite is the only product processed chemically
• zircon is removed using its conducting properties
•
the zircon according to demand is sent to the zirflour plant to be
powdered into zirflour.

6. MACHINES USED IN PLANT
The minerals are separated basically on two of thier properties :
thier conductiveness and magnetic nature(except saliminite)
• ElectroStatic Plate Separator(ESPS)
• Induced Roller Magnetic Separator(IRMS)
• High Tension Separator (HTS)
• Rare Earths Drum Magnetic Separator (REDMS)
• Rare Earth Roller Magnetic Separator (RERMS)
• Low Intensity Magnetic Separator(LIMS)
• Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS)
7. •
The R&D department supports mineral and chemical operation and
Corporate Office at Mumbai, Maharashtra.
• The quality control division has two sections
• One checks the quality and & of heavies in raw sand
• The other section checks the quality of the final product
• The quality of the final product is checked every shift
•
The final products are only sold after the approval of the quality

9. What i have learned.
• learning about the hazards associated with
this work and how to mitigate them.
• learning about the different types of rare
earth elements, where they are found, and
how they are mined and processed.
• better understanding of the importance of
rare earth elements in the global economy.
• How different components are
manufactured
10. Overall, my industrial training at Indian Rare Earths Limited was an
