A monsoon is a seasonal change in wind direction and precipitation over parts of Asia and Australia. Monsoons typically bring heavy rains and occur as a result of differential heating between land and sea. During the summer months, warm air rises over land which draws in moisture-laden winds from the sea, bringing heavy rainfall.
