Social adoption is a challenge for many companies. What is the effective utilization of the environment? Who is using which resources, what in the environment is dormant or orphaned? Where should efforts focus in order to improve adoption? All of these questions can be diffcult to answer and there is no “one size fits all” solution as each organization has their own unique needs. Join Femke Goedhart and Franz Walder and learn how to tackle this topic using IBM Connections and Watson. Starting out with IBM Bluemix Data Connect to collect and combine data from relevant sources, they use the cognitive power of IBM Watson Analytics to answer those tricky questions and provide solutions to real World adoption challenges. Accelerating Machine Learning Applications on Spark Using GPUsIBM
Matrix factorization (MF) is widely used in recommendation systems. We present cuMF, a highly-optimized matrix factorization tool with supreme performance on graphics processing units (GPUs) by fully utilizing the GPU compute power and minimizing the overhead of data movement. Firstly, we introduce a memory-optimized alternating least square (ALS) method by reducing discontiguous memory access and aggressively using registers to reduce memory latency. Secondly, we combine data parallelism with model parallelism to scale to multiple GPUs.
Results show that with up to four GPUs on one machine, cuMF can be up to ten times as fast as those on sizable clusters on large scale problems, and has impressively good performance when solving the largest matrix factorization problem ever reported.

One of the central tenants of DevOps is making sure you have properly versioned everything. Many distributed teams have moved to using Git for this purpose. Git is the software configuration manager (SCM) kids are learning in school and it's easy for anyone to pick up. You can even use it on your own machine to manage your own projects. Meanwhile, your z/OS code is sitting in an old SCM that no new developers know and that they don't want to use. If you're using GIT for all the rest of your source, why to do you limit your z teams with that host-based SCM? Come to this session to learn how GIT can be used for traditional z/OS development.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.
Code reviews are vital for ensuring good code quality. They serve as one of our last lines of defense against bugs and subpar code reaching production.
Yet, they often turn into annoying tasks riddled with frustration, hostility, unclear feedback and lack of standards. How can we improve this crucial process?
In this session we will cover:
- The Art of Effective Code Reviews
- Streamlining the Review Process
- Elevating Reviews with Automated Tools
By the end of this presentation, you'll have the knowledge on how to organize and improve your code review proces

Launch Your Streaming Platforms in MinutesRoshan Dwivedi
The claim of launching a streaming platform in minutes might be a bit of an exaggeration, but there are services that can significantly streamline the process. Here's a breakdown:
Pros of Speedy Streaming Platform Launch Services:
No coding required: These services often use drag-and-drop interfaces or pre-built templates, eliminating the need for programming knowledge.
Faster setup: Compared to building from scratch, these platforms can get you up and running much quicker.
All-in-one solutions: Many services offer features like content management systems (CMS), video players, and monetization tools, reducing the need for multiple integrations.
Things to Consider:
Limited customization: These platforms may offer less flexibility in design and functionality compared to custom-built solutions.
Scalability: As your audience grows, you might need to upgrade to a more robust platform or encounter limitations with the "quick launch" option.
Features: Carefully evaluate which features are included and if they meet your specific needs (e.g., live streaming, subscription options).
Examples of Services for Launching Streaming Platforms:
Muvi [muvi com]
Uscreen [usencreen tv]
Alternatives to Consider:
Existing Streaming platforms: Platforms like YouTube or Twitch might be suitable for basic streaming needs, though monetization options might be limited.
Custom Development: While more time-consuming, custom development offers the most control and flexibility for your platform.
Overall, launching a streaming platform in minutes might not be entirely realistic, but these services can significantly speed up the process compared to building from scratch. Carefully consider your needs and budget when choosing the best option for you.

considerations such as the amount of multiprogramming in the user’s job stream, the
I/O configuration, the storage configuration, and the workload processed. Therefore,
no assurance can be given that an individual user will achieve results similar to those
stated here.

Ways to disable inline view indexing
Method Description
load updall <database> -T <view> -Inlin off
Disables inline view indexing for a database when the
indexing was enabled by Updall. To disable indexing for a
specific view, specify the view name. If you don't specify a
view, all views in the database that use inline indexing are
disabled.
DISABLE_INLINE_INDEX=1
This NOTES.INI setting temporarily disables all inline view
indexing on a server. A server restart is not necessary. Inline
view indexing is disabled as views are opened.
To enable inline view indexing on all databases again,
specify:ENABLE_INLINE_INDEX_ALL=1
tell inlineindex disable <database> <view>
To temporarily disable current inline indexing of any views in
the sales.nsfdatabase:
tell inlineindex disable sales.nsf
To enable indexing again, use
tell inlineindex enable.
For example:
tell inlineindex enable sales.nsf By Author
21. IBM Collaboration Solutions
• The Agent Manager's Eligible queue is now able to change from the lowest value
possible at 100, to 255 which is the highest value possible via an INI
AMGRMaxQueue
• This is not how many agents run concurrently, but this is how many agents on the
server can be queued to run.
Ability To Increase The Amgr Queue Beyond 100
21
23. IBM Collaboration Solutions
High resolution support for the Notes® Client
• The Notes® client on Windows correctly scales text and icons
when high resolution monitors or custom DPI settings are used.
23
24. IBM Collaboration Solutions
• Searching by <last name first name> through typeahead or in the ambiguous name
dialog, returns the same results as searching by <first name last name>.

including variants such as Donald, Donovan, Smithfield.
• Upgrade to the pernames.ntf template provided with 9.0.1 FP9
• Notes.ini setting AllowWildcardLookup=1 to the Notes® 9.0.1 FP9 client
Improved name lookup in Notes
24
25. IBM Collaboration Solutions
Improved support for Notes® addressing with
mobile directory catalogs
• The typeahead now renders internal contact list local contacts labelled as other
email address and then an option to search the server contacts
Helps in avoiding wrong selection of matching users from internal and external
contacts
Add Notes.ini $TypeAheadShowDircatFirst = 1
