Question1 - StudentAnswerA
Yesterday the local community met together to debate a proposal which has implications for all of
us, and the Titanic fight really began to heat up!
The atmosphere was cold and the audience, in there rough clothes and grim expressions, giving the
idea no one, but Rufus Carmichael, wanted to be there for the debate. After a short debate to start things
up, the room grew warm as the debate continued on. As people went of for a cool, refreshing drink, talk
carried on that the company was bribing the community one way was a medical centre would be built, and
would allow for operations to take place.
As the meeting continued, talk of the forest being swept away was comensing. Rufus stated
“warehouses would be built to hold food stores”, a bonus for local hunters to sell local produce. The talk of
more jobs insued after.
Than it was a Common land spokeswoman Anufa’s turn to add to the debate. She reminded people
that the land contains Ancient Oaks from their ancestors and that it holds rare animals.
As Anfua expanded on her talk of the site, cheers began to form. First it was the people near her. But
then broke out loud and clear! Rufus Carmichaels’ face screwed up and his lips squashed like a bug, in anger.
Sweat began to leave his forehead. He lost his temper and banged the table, so hard the legs quivered in
fear. Jeers and boos from the audience made Rufus very angry as he shouted “We will get our way” and my
company is stronger than all of you!”
Not long after, the meeting broke up, and a storm began. A final reminder of the rare animals that
live the forest took flight as a blue-grey falcon flew over, which finally did show the true beauty of this land.
What may occur in the future is clouded in mystery but I am almost certain, the Common land ss
safe, from Rufus Carmichael. (2 ½ pages of writing).

The Battle for the Special Land
Yesterday the local community met together to debate a proposal which has implications for all of
us. The large company FoodFreight were challenged by a villager. The atmosphere was very nerve-wracking
for most. It was very unusual and unorthodox. At many moments the atmosphere was tense. To my
suprisement, I was shocked that a full on argument happened. The representative was really unlucky, as he
was booed of by the community.
In addition, the two speakers were very feisty. At moments both made aggressive and negative
remarks. From time to time, they glared at each other in an un-wanting way. It was at they were playing a
status game. The villager I believe was thinking about us and the wildlife within. As for the representative,
he didn’t care about the rare animals and the special land. He was clearly just caring for his wages.
Will the special land develop into FoodFreight? It may develop, you can never know the future.
However, due to the anger of the crowd towards the representative, I will highly doubt that development
will take place. If so our culture and rituals will continue. Finally our wildlife will be saved from the large
company. (1 ¾ pages of writing).

Question1 - StudentAnswerC
Common Land
Yesterday the local community met together to debate a proposal which has implications to all of us.
The debate saw Rufus Carmichael address the common land and how its redevelopment would benefit us
all resulting in prosperity. He questioned our use of the land and deemed it as undesirable due to its
unmaintained look. Furthermore Mr Carmichael produced incentives such as an overflow of food, jobs and
even amedical centre which had the crowd buzzing for better days.Although, Anfua had different ideas. Her
rebuttle to Mr Carmichael’s claims left the hall effervesant for other reasons! Anfua believed that what the
people needed was a hospital rather than a medical centre and that ancestors history will be demolished in
the development. She gained supporters suggesting that her claims were popular and eventually the
majority roared and cheered at Anuja’s opinions.
My first impression of Mr Carmichael is that he is aprofessional. He seemed calculatedand unnatural
with what he said, although he guaranteed prosperity. He delivered a polished speech until he became
flustered by Anuja’s rebuttle and focused on making the common land appear horrible so everyone would
jump on board his new plans. Anuja seemed authentic, her opinions were real and unrehearsed and were
powerful enough to get people onside. She presented as if she really cared about the future of the common
land, the people in the areaand how the future would effect once novelty wore off. Her argument was strong
and had simple solutions allowing the improvements of the common land and people’s qualities of life.
Overall, money seems to win the war nowadays! I think Mr Carmichael may have it in the bag with
his redevelopment plans.as his plans proved popular. Furthermore, when people go home and allow the
meeting to sink in his promises have greater changes that Anuja’s, resulting in a focus on him. In my opinion,
I think Mr Carmichaelmay be using his knowledge and power to rick us – which was evident in his frustrations
of being stronger than Anuja. I would agree with the development plans as long as his promises of medical
centres jobs etc. are stuck to and are sustainable. (2 pages of writing).

Question1 - StudentAnswerD
Yesterday the local community met together to debate a proposal which has implications for all of us that believe the
town should or be able to develop into a warehouse company.
Despite, the different views and opinions theatmosphere was extremely lively as the crowed raced into the buildinglike
animals. They was determined to hear the positive things that might bring prosperity to their town. However, some were very
serious and quite blanked faced as they we cautios of the fight needed to savethe delightful site. Many were poorly dressed and
looked lifeless as if they all rarely ate a thing except the representative of the company, Rufus Carmicahel.
Once the main speaker, the representative of the development company, spoke the croawd was eager to listen to every
word duringthe meeting. They was give the opportunity to view plans and maps that was layed around the hall whilstthey were
given soothing drinks and exquisite snacks.
However, I would liketo draw attention to the two speakers and the argumentst that they made. Anuja, a journalist, was
againstthecompany and believed that itwas only bribingthe people so that can develop a piece of common land.Additional, she
strongly feltthat the town needed much more importantthings such as hospitalswhich Iconsider isa very good pointshestated.7
The meeting was no longer haulted since Anuja stated her views. On the other hand, Mr Carmichael did step in which
lead to the significant conferentation.
Rufus raised his voiceas hestated thatthe town would become a “pleasantplace”withoutthe trees, dirtand loud roads.
My impression of this is that Mr Carmichael knows that the town needs more medical attention but he wants too improve the
town since the company could make more money.
Anjua was vexed by Rufus’s comment as his fist tighetend but she was not going to back down. As well as allowing the
town to go to a company the would be building a warehouse. Before Anujja continued her argument Rufus continued to talk;;
promising the people of the town a medical centre and jobs. The crowd was quite surprised and incredibly pleased by what he
said but Anuja was highly against this statement.
Anuja had very good arguments when she spoke which inspired the crowed to listen to her beliefs. On the other hand,
Rufus was extremley persuasive so the argument was inpsirational.
As Anuja expressed how she felt about the town, wildlife and nature the crowed was truly inspired and cheered; they
starting from the seats near her spreadingto the seats behind her likea wave. Rufus was tramediously angry sinceshe won the
debate. His face furious likea bull and his lips tightened. He no longer showed a positiveattitude to the crowed when he sp oke.
However, the meeting ended not long after Anuja’s point.
Above all,I think theteamwill getthe medical attention they need after Anuja’s inspiringspeech and many improvements
will bemade, hopefully newly builthome and to clean the town. Withoutdoubt, many people particularly biologists will beshared
by their wonderful wildlife and rare species. On the other hand, Rufus may try to develop on the town of find another location
sincehewas determined and very stubborn about stayingand developingthe town. Perhaps, the company will becomesuccessful
with their great ideas. (3 ½ pages of writing)
