Zahhak was an evil king in Persian mythology who was cursed with two serpents growing from his shoulders that had to be fed human brains daily. He ruled cruelly over Persia for a thousand years until he was overthrown by Kaveh the blacksmith and Fereydun, who imprisoned Zahhak in Mount Damavand with the serpents still feeding on his shoulders for eternity.
