Therapy Services
Psychiatric Occupational Therapy
Trauma Responsive Youth Services
Every parent and educator agrees that
youth need social and emotional
awareness, self-management skills, and
behavioral regulation to succeed in the
classroom, on the job, and in the
community.
Mastery of these skills can be difficult
for youth who’ve experienced trauma,
incarceration, have developmental
delays, or have a history of school
suspension and expulsion. Youthcentrix
Therapy Services develops the
concrete self-management skills youth
need for work, school, and leisure.
What
Youthcentrix®
Therapy Services
provides individualized Occupational
Therapy programming that recognizes
the impact trauma and adversity have
on youth development, thinking,
behavior patterns, and mental health.
We provide community-, school-, and
home-based psychiatric Occupational
Therapy for assessment of functional
status and individualized interventions
to improve functional performance.
How
Using dynamic and meaningful activity,
mindfulness, and real life situations,
Youthcentrix®
Therapy Services helps
youth develop habits, ways of being,
and patterns of thinking that change
youths’ typical responses to stress and
adversity. These changes build healthy
routines and improve youth’s social
skills, problem solving, and functional
performance at school, at work, and in
the community.

2. Juvenile Justice
Between 80-90% of people in the criminal justice
system have a history of four or more adverse
childhood experiences (ACEs). This chronic trauma
has been shown to impair thinking, emotional
control, and encourages adoption of risk behaviors
that may lead to contact with the legal system.
Educational System
Students with a history of adversity and trauma are more likely to
demonstrate difficulty with attention and emotional and
behavioral control that leads to teacher fatigue, disciplinary
referrals, school suspension/expulsion, lower than ideal academic
achievement, and involvement in the criminal justice system.
Community Living
Youth and adults with impaired social, emotional,
and cognitive development are more likely to have
difficulty leading healthy and independent lives in
the community. These difficulties include securing
and maintaining a job, readiness to meet job
performance expectations, and achieving financial
stability to secure housing, transportation, and
access to healthy recreation.
Youthcentrix®
Therapy Services, provides psychiatric Occupational Therapy to youth
and young adults ages 6 and over in Illinois and Missouri in home, school, and
community settings to develop the concrete self-management skills youth need to
build healthy and fulfilling lives.
