The monument lies off the coast of Yonaguni Island in Japan and consists of sandstone and mudstone structures submerged on the seabed, including what seems to be a road, star-shaped platforms, and a pyramid. While some scientists believe it is a natural formation caused by earthquakes, Professor Masaaki Kimura of the University of Ryukyus argues the structures are too precise to be natural and speculates it may be a ruin belonging to the lost civilization of Mu.
