Yann Tiersen is a French musician and composer known for his minimalist compositions that incorporate a variety of instruments. He received classical training in music academies in France. While initially composing background music for plays and films, he rose to domestic fame with the release of his third album "Le Phare". However, he gained broader international recognition for his score of "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" in 2001, which used both new and previously released music.
