2. Revision Guides
The best revision guide is a well-
organised exercise book or folder
Maximising your exercise book
and coping with content
1. Content pages- checklists-
confidence index
2. Revisit notes/written work
3. Mind mapping
Contents pages
Benefits:
Organises topics for revision
Reviewing topics/ideas as you make the contents page
Confidence index- record on 1-5 scale how confident you are with
each topic
Revisit notesRevisit notes
Draw a column at one side of your page or use
the margin to enter key terms or questions.
Test yourself at a later date by covering the bulk
of their work and leaving yourself with key
terms to explain and define and questions to
answer.
Mind Mapping
Complete mind-maps on previous topics, without using
your books. This may identify what you know and
identify gaps in your knowledge.
Use your notes to fill the gaps in a different colour.
This conscious awareness of what you know and don’t
know will help learning stick, and will force you to
revise what you don’t know.
3. Past Papers
Set aside 5 minutes at the start of the exam/past paper in which
the students aren’t allowed to answer the questions. Instead they
go through the paper from start to finish thinking about what
they need to do at what point.
