The Lost Island
(WWP4 Final Draft)
12 April 2030
GRAB THE BINOCULARS, yelled Professor Ketteragon to his wife.
He saw a figure, to large to be a elephant on an uncharted island somewhere on the Pacific
Ocean. Ketteragon was on a cruise ship on a new route, the route to North Korea. In late
2013 North Korea finally decided to become allies with the USA, ever since, North Korea
modernized it’s cities and built 7 star resorts and hotels, Ketteragon was heading to one of
the luxury resorts. The discovery of this island wasn't surprising for him, he was a professor
in science and prehistoric life, but he knew that it is possible to find small patches of un
discovered land. But what really shock him was a moving figure he saw on this island, he
raised the binoculars towards his eyes and what he saw shocked him and surprised him at
the same time. He thought he saw a theropod like creature, a theropod is a dinosaur group,
theropods are the meat eating dinosaurs which walk on two feet.
“I must report this sighting”Thought Professor Ketteragon.
And so he did, he reported it to the government of USA. They all were shocked, they were
so shocked that they funded a expedition to the island to find out if Ketteragon knew what
he saw.
16 June 2030
Hello, my name is Jim. I am a paleontologist and a professional hiker, I am the leader of the
team that is going to explore this new Island. My friend, Roger Lovell is also a
paleontologist, we work together to dig up fossils of animals that once walked the face of
the Earth. Our survivalist, Bill Borman is coming with us on this expedition, he will help us
with survival in the wild, he is an experienced survivalist, he is a vital part of our team.
Lastly we have our pilot, Tom Glenn, he has 10 years of flying experience, he joined the
navy when he was just 20 years old, he is also a jokester, he can help us when life gives us
lemons. We are all a team called “EXPED1”. If we find anything interesting, the goverment
will fund more expeditions like “EXPED2, EXPED3”.
We are going to stay on this island for 3 days, we are going to bring weapons, tranquilizer
guns, scientific research tools to do some science if there is any interesting creature there,
many HD cameras with a few thermal cameras and a whole lot of other stuff.
We are going to take a plane to North Korea, then ride a helicopter to this island. Bill will be
piloting both of these vehicles. That’s how we roll.
28 June 2030
We packed our equipment boarded a Learjet, a type of private jet and flew from the US to
North Korea. The ride was quite comforting, we had a nice quiet environment to stay in on
the plane, it was like traveling “First Class”. We flew for a couple of hours to find ourselves
landing on the airport, shortly after a quick car ride we boarded the helicopter which will
take us all the way to the island. Borman put his hand on the throttle and said one last thing
before he pushed the throttle.
“Good Luck Guys, We Are Going To Need It”
And soon enough the helicopter ascended, higher and higher into the sky. Although the
ride was obviously lot less comforting than the plane ride ,was noisy and we sat together in
a cramped environment nobody seemed to mind, we all looked out of the window like
watching TV. Soon enough the plane touched down on a white sandy beach, it stirred up
some sand as we came in for the landing. We landed on a beach, next to the beach was a
jungle, we knew we were going in.
Pak San 17/May/2013
The first man to step on the island was me. When the door opened, I jumped off and
said these words
“Mankind’s Eagerness To Explore Must Be For Filled”
The team all gave me a smile.
There was no time for fooling around, we have set-up our base camp.
The base camp consist of 2 tents that tent holds two men each, my sleeping buddy
was Roger, a party tent, the type you see in some outdoor events and gathering, we
used this tent to store our table and chairs and finally a party tent for storing our
goods. We got this all set-up in two hours, not bad, not bad at all. Tom felt a growl in
his stomach
“When’s Lunch” Tom Joked
You might be surprised we all laughed at joke, it was around 6:00pm and lunch time
has obviously passed a few hours ago, nevertheless I can’t explain how this joke is
funny, sometimes the simplest jokes are the funniest.
To Tom’s luck, we did have dinner, but we called it “Lunch” due to his joke. For
“Lunch” we had some chicken wings with some soda, unhealthy but delicious. During
“Lunch” Tom made us loose the food from our mouth with his jokes, I noticed Tom
never memorizes his jokes, he just makes them up the minute he said them, neat
skill.
Later we crawled into our tents, they were the average A tents, we had two of them. I
inflated my sleeping mat and laid down, I tried to sleep but there were so many
strange noises, deep and high, loud and soft.
29 June 2030
The smell of fresh air stirs up the new day, I crawled out of my tent, others followed.
We had some free time but that didn't last very long, it wasn't because we had to
cook breakfast, in fact we were only going to eat a granola bar or two for breakfast,
but the eagerness to explore this island. We grabbed our backpacks and hiked off to
the unknown landscape of The Lost Island.
After hiking for about less than 20 minutes, maybe even 15, Bill heard something
strange. At first he thought it was a bird, but the sound got louder as we hiked on, it
was a deep sound, it seemed to be a call of some sort. Then Roger spotted
something in the distance! It was too big to be elephant, what was it? I grabbed the
binoculars and zeroed in on the target, I was shocked, I stood motionless for 30
seconds, trying to make sense of what I am looking at.
“We need to get closer, don’t make any noise” I whispered
This creature was eating plants, large leaves to be exact. Finally I knew what I was
seeing, it looked like a dinosaur, a Edmontosaurus, it belonged to the Hadrosaur
family, the group of dinosaurs that has a mount in a duck-billed shaped. We all
googled in amazement, I bet all of our minds were thinking
“How did this creature survive for such a long period of time without being discovered
by humans?”
There was something Roger and I knew because we were scientists, there must be a
surviving population of these animals, we also knew that there must be more
dinosaurs, the predators, without them the Edmontosaurus species would over
populate and eat all their food source away and therefore be extinct a long time ago.
Tom was the smart one, he quickly grabbed the most HD camera he could find and
took pictures and a video of this creature.
We finally got back on our feet and started to hike once more, still amazed by what
we saw.
“You know what, I think this island is inhabited by dinosaurs” said Roger
“I agree” replied everyone else
“Greatest discovery of the 21st century” said Tom
“Yep” we all replied
We hiked some more, this time silently because we didn't want to let other dinosaurs
know we were here.
“Hey, let’s rest by this watering hole, we can fill up our water bottles here, the water
must be fresh here” I said
And so we rested, for about a minute or two we had a conversation about the island,
planning what do next by the watering hole. Then, there was a disturbance in the
leaves, something big was coming, next came loud footsteps and finally a creatures
on the other side of the watering hole appeared. We all were able to determine what
species of animal it was, it’s an Triceratops or should I say a herd of them, the
dinosaur with 3 horns and a frill that lives about 65 million years ago.
“Wow” Borman said, thinking about the discovery
I knew what to do this time, I quickly grabbed a tranquilizer gun, aimed at one of the
dinosaurs a shoot!
“BAM” as soon as I pulled the trigger, the bullet hit the Triceratops.
A minute later, the creature fell to it’s knees and slept. The sound of the gun scared
away all the other Triceratops in the heard, a great opportunity to get up close and
collect blood, skin and tissue samples of the dinosaur for scientific research.
And that’s what we did, Tom had a camcorder in his hand, filming the team using the
scientific equipment.
The following hour, the sun dimmed.
“Time to get back to camp” said Bill Borman
“Dude, don’t always worry about time, we can stay for one more hour”replied Tom
“No Tom, he’s correct, we need to get back to camp, we can’t afford to wait for
sunset, we didn't bring any night gear”I said
Tom really needs to learn how time works, time doesn't wait for you, when night falls
we will have lots of trouble finding our way back”
We went back to camp to find ourselves sitting by the fire having a BBG, nothing
fancy, just your average BBQ.
30 June 2030
“QUICK, GET UP, YOU GOT TO SEE THIS” Whispered Roger
I slowly climbed out of my tent, half asleep, surprisingly everyone else was wide
awake, I couldn't see why still a took a good look into the distance, that’s were I went
from being half asleep to being 100% focused.
“Hey, hand me the camera” whispered Tom
I grabbed the camera and passed it over to Tom.
“You getting all this” asked Bill
“Yeah’ replied Tom
What we were seeing were 2 Triceratops head-butting each other on the beach about
100 meters away from us. I moved a meter closer, I could see one more Triceratops,
not fighting but watching the fight. I knew they must be two adult male Triceratops
fighting for a mate.
“Mating Season” whispered Tom
“Yeah, perfect timing”whispered Roger back to Tom
“Should I shot one of them, the male?” asked Bill
“Kill?”I asked
“Yeah, we can cut off their horns for good research”replied Bill
“No, the caucus could attract predators”I replied back
“Ok”replied Bill
The desperate Triceratops fought for 10 minutes, then ran back into the jungle.
Ok, grab your gear, let’s go to the plains, it’s on the map.
“Hey, I thought this island was uncharted”asked Bill
“Yeah, but a Cessna flew here a week earlier and mapped the island from the sky.
“Ok then” responded Bill
And off we went.
An hour later we heard a kind of familiar sound, disturbance in the bushes. This time
the creature making the disturbance must be an fast and agile creature, or creatures.
Next came a scratch, sounded a little high pitch.
“Behind You” called Bill
And there it was, a pack of Dromeasaurus, a type of small raptor, a small carnivore.
“Not as big as the ones in Jurassic Park after all” Tom joked
BAM, Bill had grabbed the tranquilizer and shot one of the pack’s dinosaurs. The
Dromeasaurus began to fall to his knees and sleep. TRANQUILIZED.
In less than a minute we all began taking some blood, tissue and even teeth samples
from the dinosaur, while Tom filmed us.
Few hours later we finally reached the clearing, the plains were so beautiful that I
don’t even think Shakespeare could describe it. To the left was a long lake, there
were Alamosaurus, a type of longed neck dinosaur which lives 65 million years ago
and a herd of Edmontosaurus. To the left were some Tyrannosaurus resting in the
shade and a couple of Anklyosaurus, the armored dinosaur, walking towards the lake
for some water on this hot summer day.
We watched all this in silence, then Tom interrupted, he sang the Jurassic Park
theme, it really matched the moment.
“Good One”said Bill
“Yeah, really nice timing Tom”I said
“Alright, let’s go tranquilizer some of these dinosaurs and collect some samples
staring with the Alamosaurus” Roger said
“No, we split up in groups to save less time, you and Roger collect samples from the
Edmonto...Hey look Triceratops!” said Tom
The herd of Triceratops interrupted Tom’s explanation, but he continued.
“Ok, you and Roger collect samples from the Alamosaurus and Edmontosaurus while
Bill and I collect samples from the Anklyosaurus, let’s do the Tyrannosaurus together”
said Tom
I liked how Tom can turn from joke mode to serious mode, a really neat skill.
As soon as he finished explaining we got to work, collect samples.
After a long day of collecting samples, it was finally time to tranquilize the
Tyrannosaurus. We all creeped up slowly towards a sleeping rex, Bill had the
tranquilizer gun in his hand, and fired!
We collected samples, teeth, blood and tissue.
Finally we all hiked back to base camp and had a quick BBQ, and finally crawled
back into our tents to sleep, well except for Tom. He put all our samples in boxes to
be taken back to the states then went to sleep. Great Day.
Midnight 30 June 2013
“What as that?” I asked Roger
“Sounded like a rex” replied Roger
“Rex?”I asked
“Yeah”replied Roger
“WOW, WHAT”S HAPPENING?!?”Roger yelled
“The tent has just collapsed,GET OUT GET OUT”I replied
We crawled painstakingly out of the tent, this wasn't any ordinary scenario where
your average tent has collapsed, in fact this is a worst case scenario. Meters away
from us was terror, a fully grown Tyrannosaurus Rex, the tyrant lizard.
Bill and Tom was waken by the roars the Rex made, they crawled out of their tent. Bill
grabbed a rifle and loaded it up, the Rex thrashed all our equipment around, messing
up our table and food supplies, luckily our storage tent, were we kept all our scientific
samples was not touched. Then the Rex ran towards our helicopter, Bill aimed and
FIRED. It hit the Rex but didn't seem to do any damage, the Rex finally pounced on
the Helicopter and tore it to pieces.
“Great, now we’ve stranded”said Bill
“GUYS, we have to get out, it’s too dangerous to stay on the beach, grab what we
need and GO”I said
We all grabbed what we needed, a communication box which consists of a
telephone to communicate with the outside world, weapons, knifes, first aid,
backpacks with other gear.
We all ran into the jungle, trying to move ourselves as far as possible from the Rex. 5
minutes later we came to a stop, we sat down and had a rest.
“Great, now we are lost on this island”Bill said in disappointment.
“Alright, let me radio the rescue team, we’ve get out of here”Roger said
Roger radio the rescue team and said
“Hello, we are EXPED 1 we have been forced out of our camp by a Tyrannosaurus
and now are lost on the newly discovered island, the one around the ocean where
North Korea is”
“I am sorry but I can’t send the rescue team at night”replied the boss of the rescue
team
“Please, we need serious help”said Roger
“I’ll send them as soon as the sun rises, sorry......”said the boss of the rescue team
as the communication breaks down
“Alright, we need to wait for the rescue team to come at the morning”said Roger
“We need to hike towards the plains, if we are in the jungle they’ll never see us, go to
the plains”I said
And off we went.
3 hours later, I heard a rustling in the bush.
“BILL!”Roger yelled
“GRAB THE GUN,GRAB THE GUN”Tom yelled
I immediately grabbed the rifle and aimed, a Dromeasaurus has pounced on Bill and
is scratching a bitting his face. BAM, DIRECT HIT, the Dromeasaurus fell too the
ground and tried to run away from us.
Bill was on the floor, covered with blood, we tried putting alcohol over his wounds
and bandages over his body an face, but he was losing too much blood.
“Hang in there buddy”said Tom
“It’s going to be ok, it’s going to be ok”repeated Roger
Bill was losing too much blood, he wasn't in good condition.
15 minutes later, Bill said his last words
“I might not get out of here alive, but promise me...promise me you guys will”
“NO, IT”S NOT OVER FOR YOU YET”yelled Tom
---Silence---
Bill had finally lost too much blood that he died
“I promise we’ll get out of here alive”I whispered to Bill’s dead body
We all were sad, but it was the wrong time to be emotional, eventually we continued
our hike and by day break we reached the plains.
“Dude, I am thirsty, can we go grab a sip of water”asked Tom
“Sure, let’s walk to the river and fill up our bottles”said Roger
And we did, walking towards the river.
We sat by the River and relaxed, we could see the peaceful herbivore dinosaurs
taking a good sip of water on this hot summer day.
An hour later, we heard a noise, at first we thought it was the sound of many birds
flapping their wings close to us, but by the second the noise got louder and louder,
into there was a flying object on the horizon, the rescue chopper.
We all clapped, it was amazing.
Then we heard something not as reliving, the roar of a Tyrannosaurus, it was behind
us. The Tyrannosaurus leaped forward and chase us, Tom filmed this while Roger
and I tried to shot the dinosaur. The chopper landed.
“QUICK, towards the chopper”yelled Roger
We quickly ran then boarded the chopper, the door slammed and we tried to take off,
but the Rex bite one of the choppers landing legs and tried to pull the chopper out of
the sky, however the chopper was strong and resisted. The Rex had one last trick to
play, it leaped into the air and tried to pounce on the chopper, but he only gave the
chopper a slight push with minor damage.
“We safe”I said
“Best Experience Ever, You Agree?”asked Tom
“Yep” we all replied
As I left the island, I felt a feeling of sadness, not only because Bill had died a painful
death, in fact I was happy we made it out alive, if he is watching us from the
heavens, I know he is really proud of us, but the fact that the island might be
colonized. I don’t want all the dinosaurs to go extinct, this island is theirs and they
should keep it. Every where we go we seem to mess the wildlife up, I hope it’s not
the same for the animals on this island, this has been one of the greatest if not they
greatest discovery of the century.
I hope this island is kept safe and shall last for as long as time goes.
The End

The following hour, the sun dimmed. “Time to get back to camp” said Bill Borman “Dude, don’t always worry about time, we can stay for one more hour”replied Tom “No Tom, he’s correct, we need to get back to camp, we can’t afford to wait for sunset, we didn't bring any night gear”I said Tom really needs to learn how time works, time doesn't wait for you, when night falls we will have lots of trouble finding our way back” We went back to camp to find ourselves sitting by the fire having a BBG, nothing fancy, just your average BBQ. 30 June 2030 “QUICK, GET UP, YOU GOT TO SEE THIS” Whispered Roger I slowly climbed out of my tent, half asleep, surprisingly everyone else was wide awake, I couldn't see why still a took a good look into the distance, that’s were I went from being half asleep to being 100% focused. “Hey, hand me the camera” whispered Tom I grabbed the camera and passed it over to Tom. “You getting all this” asked Bill “Yeah’ replied Tom What we were seeing were 2 Triceratops head-butting each other on the beach about 100 meters away from us. I moved a meter closer, I could see one more Triceratops, not fighting but watching the fight. I knew they must be two adult male Triceratops fighting for a mate. “Mating Season” whispered Tom “Yeah, perfect timing”whispered Roger back to Tom “Should I shot one of them, the male?” asked Bill “Kill?”I asked “Yeah, we can cut off their horns for good research”replied Bill “No, the caucus could attract predators”I replied back “Ok”replied Bill The desperate Triceratops fought for 10 minutes, then ran back into the jungle. Ok, grab your gear, let’s go to the plains, it’s on the map. “Hey, I thought this island was uncharted”asked Bill “Yeah, but a Cessna flew here a week earlier and mapped the island from the sky. “Ok then” responded Bill And off we went.
  • 4. An hour later we heard a kind of familiar sound, disturbance in the bushes. This time the creature making the disturbance must be an fast and agile creature, or creatures. Next came a scratch, sounded a little high pitch. “Behind You” called Bill And there it was, a pack of Dromeasaurus, a type of small raptor, a small carnivore. “Not as big as the ones in Jurassic Park after all” Tom joked BAM, Bill had grabbed the tranquilizer and shot one of the pack’s dinosaurs. The Dromeasaurus began to fall to his knees and sleep. TRANQUILIZED. In less than a minute we all began taking some blood, tissue and even teeth samples from the dinosaur, while Tom filmed us. Few hours later we finally reached the clearing, the plains were so beautiful that I don’t even think Shakespeare could describe it. To the left was a long lake, there were Alamosaurus, a type of longed neck dinosaur which lives 65 million years ago and a herd of Edmontosaurus. To the left were some Tyrannosaurus resting in the shade and a couple of Anklyosaurus, the armored dinosaur, walking towards the lake for some water on this hot summer day. We watched all this in silence, then Tom interrupted, he sang the Jurassic Park theme, it really matched the moment. “Good One”said Bill “Yeah, really nice timing Tom”I said “Alright, let’s go tranquilizer some of these dinosaurs and collect some samples staring with the Alamosaurus” Roger said “No, we split up in groups to save less time, you and Roger collect samples from the Edmonto...Hey look Triceratops!” said Tom The herd of Triceratops interrupted Tom’s explanation, but he continued. “Ok, you and Roger collect samples from the Alamosaurus and Edmontosaurus while Bill and I collect samples from the Anklyosaurus, let’s do the Tyrannosaurus together” said Tom I liked how Tom can turn from joke mode to serious mode, a really neat skill. As soon as he finished explaining we got to work, collect samples. After a long day of collecting samples, it was finally time to tranquilize the Tyrannosaurus. We all creeped up slowly towards a sleeping rex, Bill had the tranquilizer gun in his hand, and fired! We collected samples, teeth, blood and tissue. Finally we all hiked back to base camp and had a quick BBQ, and finally crawled back into our tents to sleep, well except for Tom. He put all our samples in boxes to be taken back to the states then went to sleep. Great Day. Midnight 30 June 2013 “What as that?” I asked Roger “Sounded like a rex” replied Roger “Rex?”I asked “Yeah”replied Roger “WOW, WHAT”S HAPPENING?!?”Roger yelled “The tent has just collapsed,GET OUT GET OUT”I replied We crawled painstakingly out of the tent, this wasn't any ordinary scenario where your average tent has collapsed, in fact this is a worst case scenario. Meters away from us was terror, a fully grown Tyrannosaurus Rex, the tyrant lizard. Bill and Tom was waken by the roars the Rex made, they crawled out of their tent. Bill grabbed a rifle and loaded it up, the Rex thrashed all our equipment around, messing up our table and food supplies, luckily our storage tent, were we kept all our scientific samples was not touched. Then the Rex ran towards our helicopter, Bill aimed and FIRED. It hit the Rex but didn't seem to do any damage, the Rex finally pounced on the Helicopter and tore it to pieces. “Great, now we’ve stranded”said Bill “GUYS, we have to get out, it’s too dangerous to stay on the beach, grab what we need and GO”I said
  • 5. We all grabbed what we needed, a communication box which consists of a telephone to communicate with the outside world, weapons, knifes, first aid, backpacks with other gear. We all ran into the jungle, trying to move ourselves as far as possible from the Rex. 5 minutes later we came to a stop, we sat down and had a rest. “Great, now we are lost on this island”Bill said in disappointment. “Alright, let me radio the rescue team, we’ve get out of here”Roger said Roger radio the rescue team and said “Hello, we are EXPED 1 we have been forced out of our camp by a Tyrannosaurus and now are lost on the newly discovered island, the one around the ocean where North Korea is” “I am sorry but I can’t send the rescue team at night”replied the boss of the rescue team “Please, we need serious help”said Roger “I’ll send them as soon as the sun rises, sorry......”said the boss of the rescue team as the communication breaks down “Alright, we need to wait for the rescue team to come at the morning”said Roger “We need to hike towards the plains, if we are in the jungle they’ll never see us, go to the plains”I said And off we went. 3 hours later, I heard a rustling in the bush. “BILL!”Roger yelled “GRAB THE GUN,GRAB THE GUN”Tom yelled I immediately grabbed the rifle and aimed, a Dromeasaurus has pounced on Bill and is scratching a bitting his face. BAM, DIRECT HIT, the Dromeasaurus fell too the ground and tried to run away from us. Bill was on the floor, covered with blood, we tried putting alcohol over his wounds and bandages over his body an face, but he was losing too much blood. “Hang in there buddy”said Tom “It’s going to be ok, it’s going to be ok”repeated Roger Bill was losing too much blood, he wasn't in good condition. 15 minutes later, Bill said his last words “I might not get out of here alive, but promise me...promise me you guys will” “NO, IT”S NOT OVER FOR YOU YET”yelled Tom ---Silence--- Bill had finally lost too much blood that he died “I promise we’ll get out of here alive”I whispered to Bill’s dead body We all were sad, but it was the wrong time to be emotional, eventually we continued our hike and by day break we reached the plains. “Dude, I am thirsty, can we go grab a sip of water”asked Tom “Sure, let’s walk to the river and fill up our bottles”said Roger And we did, walking towards the river. We sat by the River and relaxed, we could see the peaceful herbivore dinosaurs taking a good sip of water on this hot summer day. An hour later, we heard a noise, at first we thought it was the sound of many birds flapping their wings close to us, but by the second the noise got louder and louder, into there was a flying object on the horizon, the rescue chopper. We all clapped, it was amazing. Then we heard something not as reliving, the roar of a Tyrannosaurus, it was behind us. The Tyrannosaurus leaped forward and chase us, Tom filmed this while Roger and I tried to shot the dinosaur. The chopper landed. “QUICK, towards the chopper”yelled Roger We quickly ran then boarded the chopper, the door slammed and we tried to take off, but the Rex bite one of the choppers landing legs and tried to pull the chopper out of the sky, however the chopper was strong and resisted. The Rex had one last trick to play, it leaped into the air and tried to pounce on the chopper, but he only gave the chopper a slight push with minor damage. “We safe”I said “Best Experience Ever, You Agree?”asked Tom
  • 6. “Yep” we all replied As I left the island, I felt a feeling of sadness, not only because Bill had died a painful death, in fact I was happy we made it out alive, if he is watching us from the heavens, I know he is really proud of us, but the fact that the island might be colonized. I don’t want all the dinosaurs to go extinct, this island is theirs and they should keep it. Every where we go we seem to mess the wildlife up, I hope it’s not the same for the animals on this island, this has been one of the greatest if not they greatest discovery of the century. I hope this island is kept safe and shall last for as long as time goes. The End
